Interior Health is hiring a Term Specific Part Time Nurse Practitioner in Kamloops, British Columbia. This term will be until January 2027 or the return of incumbent.
The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will work as part of an interdisciplinary team, collaborating with Hospitalists, General Practitioners, and Nurse Practitioners to manage the care of a designated group of inpatients. The NP will be responsible for directing clinical care, engaging in both short-term and long-term planning in collaboration with the inter-professional team, and coordinating transitions of care.
Hours / Rotation
- Rotating 08 : 00 – 20 : 00
- Includes Stats and Weekends
- On-call may be required.
Salary Range : Salary range for the position is $74.74 / hour - $82.21 / hour. Interior Health establishes salaries within the minimum and maximum of the salary range based on consideration of the qualifications, experience of the applicant.

Key Responsibilities
Diagnosis and Treatment : Assess and diagnose undifferentiated diseases and conditions, provide treatment, and prescribe medications in line with the Nurse Practitioner’s scope of practice and regulatory standards.
Care Management : Monitor ongoing care, order diagnostic investigations, interpret results, and develop tailored treatment plans to optimize patient outcomes.
Patient Communication : Establish care priorities, provide follow‑up treatment, and communicate effectively with patients and families about diagnoses, care plans, and prognoses.
Collaboration and Consultation : Work closely with physicians and other healthcare professionals to assess, diagnose, and create individualized treatment plans. May also admit and discharge patients as per organizational policies.
Prescribing Medication : Prescribe medications within legal and regulatory guidelines, ensuring the safe and effective use of pharmaceutical treatments.
Leadership and Supervision : Lead and guide other nursing and healthcare personnel. Provide education, supervision, and performance evaluations to support professional development.
Research and Innovation : Contribute to research aimed at enhancing patient care and advancing nursing practices. Participate in initiatives to influence healthcare policies and population health strategies.
Health Promotion : Lead health promotion activities and screenings, focusing on at-risk populations to prevent illness and promote well‑being.
Education and Mentorship : Facilitate interdisciplinary education through case presentations, mentoring, and collaboration in clinical and community settings. Support continuous learning and knowledge sharing.
Policy Development : Develop, implement, and evaluate policies related to nursing, interdisciplinary care, and health system practices.
Palliative and Long-Term Care : Serve as the most responsible provider for patients in palliative, hospice, and long-term care settings when required.
Safety and Compliance : Adhere to Occupational Health and Safety guidelines to maintain a safe and healthy work environment. Ensure compliance with training and incident investigation protocols.
Additional Responsibilities : Perform other duties as necessary to support patient care and organizational goals.
