In this role, you will :
- Accurate and timely completion of the sales tax compliance relating to the Loyalty program
- Preparation and filing of monthly Sales tax returns and detailed supporting documentation (e.g., input tax credits) claimed under the Loyalty Program.
- Manage the sales tax audits relating to Loyalty and Partnership Program conducted by the tax authorities.
- Preparation of required documentation and liaise with government tax auditors as part of the sales tax audits of the Loyalty Program.
- Strong ongoing collaboration and communication across several partners and stakeholders involved in the Loyalty Program
- Provide assistance to Director, Sales Tax in providing advice and counsel to business and finance units on the sales tax implications under the Loyalty Program.
This requires maintaining up-to-date knowledge of GST, HST and PST legislation, jurisprudence to understand the potential impact to the loyalty program and to communicate these changes to the business units through email correspondence, one-on-one discussions or group meetings / presentations.
- Actively pursues effective and efficient operations of his / her respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations with respect to operational, compliance, AML / ATF / sanctions and conduct risk.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? - We'd love to work with you if you have :
- Professional accounting designation (CPA - CA, CPA CGA, or CPA - CMA)
- 5+ years experience in accounting, finance in the financial services sector
- Strong data analytics skills such as Alteryx
- Good understanding of the reporting, accounting systems of the Bank
- Excellent written, presentation and communication skills,
- Detail orientated with excellent analytical, critical thinking capabilities and problem- solving skills
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-energy environment with a proven ability to meet multiple deadlines and tasks.
