What is the project?
The Pickering Nuclear Generating Station Refurbishment Program involves designing and building a new deep-water intake in Lake Ontario to improve the plant’s cooling system. This will involve
- A 1.5 km-long tunnel, built by a pressurized TBM (10.15 m diameter slurry TBM);
- Two vertical shafts (onshore and offshore);
- An offshore modular intake structure, resting on the lake bed.
What You Will Do
The Junior Project Control Coordinator will assist in the implementation of the reporting and change control activities during the Definition Phase and perform the necessary adjustments for the Execution Phase of the Project.
Responsibilities
Prepare and submit periodic (weekly and monthly) reports (client and internal etc.), all along project lifecycleDevelop and evolve reporting templates and toolsDefine rituals (timeline, participants, and validations)Perform quality verification prior to issuanceCoordinate with client and internal departments for evolving needs and ensure incorporation of comments in subsequent reportsEnsuring compliance with project reporting requirements (contractual and internal needs)Verify the inclusion of subcontract reporting requirementsDevelop and implement KPI tracking toolsPerform progress calculations and various Performance KPIsCoordinate scope and change control management processesKeep project progress indicators up-to-date and functionalIdentify and develop additional project performance indicators on specific topics or project aspects when requiredCommunicate and interface with all project departments to ensure respect for reporting ritualsAssist in the preparation of the monthly and quarterly project management progress meetingsEnsure proper communication of all potential or identified issues which may impact the projectMaintain and update master reporting datasets, including baseline, previous, and current snapshotsEnsure proper version control and traceability of reporting datasets and filesMaintain the WBS and scope managementMaintain a log of reporting submissions, revisions, approvals, and issue resolutions for audit and reference purposesTasks will evolve to support project control needs and requirements of the projects which are not covered by the Risk Management, Scheduling and Cost Control teamsQualifications
1–3 years of experience in project controls, planning, reporting, or data analysisDegree or diploma in Engineering, Construction Management, or Project Management preferredExposure to infrastructure or large capital projects is an assetStrong foundational knowledge of Project Controls and Earned Value Management (EVM)Intermediate to advanced ExcelFamiliarity with Power BI is an assetStrong attention to numerical accuracy, details and data structureAbility to follow established processes and templates preciselyProactive in identifying data gaps and raising issues earlyStrong organizational, time and data management skillsBenefits
