Meet Fresh Prep Canada’s most convenient and sustainable meal kit delivery service.

As a certified B Corporation, we make convenient eating healthy and sustainable for the communities we operate in. We source quality local ingredients whenever possible, and deliver in reusable, recyclable and compostable packaging.

We offer 10 chef-created meal kit recipes each week, with options for many lifestyles and preferences including vegetarian and vegan.

What You'll Be Doing

Take recipes from concept to final product - follow a creative brief given by Manager to create accessible recipes in the test kitchen that adhere to complexity, cost, ingredient, operational, packaging and time constraints

Contribute original recipe concepts to customer recipe concept surveys

Creating high value products that are holistically informed by business and customer needs

Collaborate with other Product Developers and Jr. Product Developers to improve and test each other’s products

Seek honest and ongoing feedback on meal and product accessibility and flavours and incorporate this feedback into recipes

Participate actively in weekly culinary team and other cross-functional meetings

Thoroughly understand cooking skill levels and produce recipes that are accessible to all skill levels

Work closely and collaboratively with Production, Quality Assurance, Marketing and Purchasing teams

Stay up-to-date on food trends

Maintaining a customer-centric mindset during all phases of product development

Assisting with new ingredient sourcing and finding solutions to ingredient shortages

Taking ownership of administrative culinary projects and tasks

Mentoring and providing guidance to Jr. Recipe Developers

Open to travel to other company locations within Canada

What We Are Looking For

A Fresh Prep recipe developer is the ultimate problem solver - equal parts detail-oriented and creative. They are able to conceptualize a recipe, holding the voice of the customer in their mind, as they develop an easy to execute and delicious recipe.

They consider balance of flavour, complexity, value-perception, dietary restrictions, operational restrictions, and cost.

They are self-sufficient, taking ownership of their work, while remaining open to hearing and implementing feedback.

5+ years experience working in a professional environment related to the culinary field. Able to work in a clean and organized manner.

This is not a position for passionate home cooks

Experience developing recipes

Understanding of current nutrition, food and food industry trends

Must be able to accept and process constructive feedback from customers to improve and innovate new and current recipes

Self-starter and highly motivated to make meals that are accessible to all cooking skill levels

Sense of teamwork and collaboration. Works well in group settings to move projects forward, provide constructive feedback when needed, and support the overall team workload

What You Can Expect

$55,000 to $65,000 per annum
