Overview
The Junior Accountant will support the Finance team with month-end close processes, including journal entries, preparing monthly management analysis, reconciliations, expense reports, and updating schedules and lead sheets.
Position Responsibilities :
- Reconcile all the bank accounts with the general ledger on a weekly basis
- Prepare journal entries for both day-to-day and month-end banking transactions which can be complex as they involve multiple foreign currencies and intercompany transactions.
- Develop and maintain good relationships with the various key individuals at our financial institutions.
- Prepare weekly consolidated cash balance summary reports
- Process employee expense reports and prepare related accruals at month-end
- Process the Company’s corporate credit cards and prepare related accruals at month-end
- Assist with accounts receivable and accounts payable as needed
- Assist in external audit requirements
- Other ad-hoc projects

- Promote Westport’s H&S culture following all Environmental, and H&S procedures and understanding your obligations and responsibilities
- Report unsafe conditions, behaviors and all accidents
- Co-operate with JHSC (Joint Health & Safety Committee) and Safety representative
Position Requirements :
- 1-2 years of progressive accounting experience
- Possess strong accounting knowledge, a solid understanding of intercompany transactions and experience working with multiple currencies and foreign exchange translation
- Extensive working knowledge of Excel, ability to build quick proficiency in JD Edwards
- Detail oriented and a team player
- Proven track record of meeting / exceeding deadlines with quality work
- Positive attitude, self-motivation, organizational and analytical skills and desire to learn
Salary Range
This role offers a competitive compensation and benefits program including a salary within our hiring range of $57,000 to $60,000.
Range is dependent on numerous factors including skills and experience.
