LeverageTek is actively seeking a Coordinator, Construction Services for a permanent position with its Ottawa / Nova Scotia-based customer.
Work Location
The successful candidate will be required to work on-site at the customer headquarters in Greenwood, Nova Scotia.
Security Requirement
Must be eligible for a Government of Canada Secret Level II Clearance.
Key Tasks
- Manage and administer moderate- to high complexity construction, professional services and service contracts during construction to ensure work done under them complies with contract requirements
- Engage in daily discussions and negotiations with contractors, consultants and the Client-Partners about quality of work, interpretation of contract documents, scope changes, progress claim reviews and other issues
- Address contract management risks within delegated authority, comply with service line requirements and integrate activities with site teams and other service lines
- Coordinate and solve day-to-day contractual problems
- Monitor and control schedules
- Liaise with Client-Partner representatives (e.g. on project-related problems and risks, negotiate and issue change orders)
- Maintain site activity records (e.g. photos, activity reports)
- Liaise with other service lines and site teams, as required
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with Client-Partners and / or stakeholders
- Ensure quality standards are met, in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations
- Manage contract risk
- May perform human resources functions (e.g. coach, supervise, mentor, plan and allocate resources, and manage performance)
- Manage contract financials
- Coordinate consultant construction review and third-party quality assurance testing
- Ensure health and safety, industrial security and environmental compliance
- Other duties as assigned
Key Qualifications
- 5+ years experience in construction site supervision
- Experience in managing construction contracts to ensure work complies with contractual requirements and quality specifications
- Must have 10 years verifiable residency in Canada (to be eligible for Secret security clearance)
Qualifications
- Knowledge of best practices, methods, trends and legislation in construction
- Knowledge of construction, products and materials
- Knowledge of project, contract and risk management principles
- Knowledge of health and safety management
- Ability to use applicable computer software and operating systems
- Ability to interpret drawings and specifications
- Ability to apply project, contract and risk management techniques to construction and consultant contracts
- Demonstrated leadership and human resources management skills
- Ability to provide functional direction and advice to other employees and to Client-Partners
Working Conditions
- Typical construction site environment; incumbent is required to wear basic safety equipment
- Some work may be in a typical office environment with occasional travel

Certification in applicable field (e.g. Certified Engineering Technologist)
