Job Summary :

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible to the Board of Directors and to liaison with the President of JSA. The ED will provide strategic leadership and management to a small / medium sized seniors non-profit organization in alignment with its mission, vision, and values.

The ideal candidate will have a passion for seniors’ issues, possess strong organizational and leadership skills, and be able to effectively engage stakeholders and foster partnerships.

The ED will manage the organization’s operations, programs, fundraising efforts, and community outreach activities to drive its growth and impact.

Responsibilities :

1.Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and execute strategic plans in collaboration with the Board of Directors to advance the organization’s mission and goals.
  • Provide visionary leadership and guidance to staff, volunteers, and stakeholders, ensuring alignment with the organization’s vision and values.
  • Foster a culture of inclusivity, diversity, and equity within the organization.

2.Operational Management

  • Manage day-to-day operations, ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the organization.
  • Develop and implement policies, procedures, and systems to enhance organizational efficiency and productivity.
  • Manage financial resources, including budgeting, financial planning, and reporting regularly to Board of Directors, in consultation with the Treasurer.
  • Monitor and evaluate program outcomes, making necessary adjustments to meet targets and ensure program effectiveness.

3.Fundraising and Resource Development

  • Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies in collaboration with the Board of Directors to secure financial resources for the organization’s sustainability and growth.
  • Cultivate relationships with donors, grant-making organizations, and other funding sources to expand the organization’s funding base.
  • Lead grant writing and fundraising efforts, including researching funding opportunities, preparing proposals, and reporting on grants.

4.Community Engagement and Partnerships

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with community organizations, government agencies, and other stakeholders to enhance collaboration and support for the organization’s programs and initiatives.
  • Represent the organization at community events, conferences, and public forums to raise awareness and promote its mission and objectives.
  • Advocate for seniors’ issues and champion through public speaking engagements and media opportunities.

5.Board Relations and Governance

  • Work closely with the Board of Directors to develop Executive / Board meeting agendas.
  • Work closely with the Board of Directors, providing regular updates, reports, and recommendations.
  • Ensure all Board and Staff committees are operational and effective.
  • Collaborate with the Board in the development and implementation of governance policies and practices.
  • Support Board recruitment, orientation, and engagement processes.

Requirements

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a relevant field (e.g. non-profit management, social sciences, gerontology studies), Management Administration
  • At least 5 years proven experience in a leadership role (within a non-profit organization) or a major health organization
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans and manage organizational growth
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage diverse stakeholders
  • Experience in leading / initiating fundraising, grant writing, and donor relations
  • Financial management skills, budgeting, financial reporting, working closely with the Treasurer
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and lead a team of staff and volunteers
  • Knowledge of governance practices and experience working with a Board of Directors
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Commitment to promoting inclusivity, diversity, and equity within the organization and the broader community
  • Knowledge of gerontology and adult education
  • Knowledge of Jewish community and Jewish culture
  • Other items as deemed necessary to promote the well-being of our organization
  • Willing to work full or part-time (less than 35 hours / week) or a hybrid arrangement

Benefits

Salary range : $75,000 to $85,000

Scheduled Weekly Hours : 35 hour week

Work format : Hybrid
