Nextstar Energy is looking for an energetic and experienced CMM Programmer / Operator. Preference will be given to those with Zeiss Calypso software experience.

However, consideration will also be given to those with extensive knowledge of CMM concepts and experience using PC-DMIS software.

In this position, you will be reporting to the Incoming Quality Control (IQC) Supervisor. As a CMM Programmer / Inspection Technician, you will be responsible for developing CMM programs, performing part inspections, and for maintaining the cleanliness of the inspection lab and CMM.

The ability to program using both CAD data and supplier or customer-supplied prints with specific datum, GD&T, and tolerance requirements is required.

The successful applicant must be able to work in a time sensitive environment and meet customer demands as necessary.

This is a full-time position - requiring 40 hours a week with overtime as required. Split day / afternoon shift rotation with some overlap may also be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • To verify the dimensional accuracy of subtler component parts to CAD data, and / or tool / part print specifications.
  • Setup and program a wide variety of parts on a Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM),
  • Create setup inspection procedures to ensure the continued conformance of product to specifications and standards
  • Perform Gage R&R studies on various tools and perform capability studies on new parts (collect and analyze data).
  • Perform conventional measuring, using a variety of measuring tools to include but not limited to micrometers, Vernier calipers, and height gages.
  • Work closely with Engineering on new product introduction to ensure best-practices are implemented early.
  • Identify potential quality issues.
  • Collaborate with production and support employees to find the root cause of quality issues and implement effective solutions.
  • Prepare inspection reports for internal and external use
  • Report results to relevant departments
  • Effectively maintain and update ISO 17025 : 2017 Standards and help with transition as required

Education and Experience

  • Experience working with Zeiss Calypso and / or Mitutoyo PC-DMIS software
  • CQT (Certified Quality Technician) or Technical College / Post-secondary education particularly an asset if in manufacturing / mechanical engineering field
  • CMM and / or CNC programming (3 5 years) operational experience in ISO 17025 automotive or similar work environment).
  • Experience with calibrating checking fixtures for a wide variety of parts.
  • Fixture and gauge knowledge an asset
  • Microsoft Office suite of software
  • Experience in CAD software
  • Knowledge of basic calibration (recall) system and quality audit experience

  • Internal Audit experience
  • Fully competent in the use of tools and gauges to inspect machined and molded parts and features
