THE OPPORTUNITY

As the Philanthropy Officer, you will report to the Director, Philanthropy and work alongside a passionate and dedicated team of fundraisers.

You will cultivate, grow, and steward a portfolio of existing and new major donors and sponsors to support the Variety Week and Variety Show of Hearts campaigns.

You will inspire and engage new donor audiences to join Variety’s mission and deliver an unmatched donor experience through exceptional experiences, building trust, making donors and sponsors feel valued, and demonstrating the impact of their giving.

The Philanthropy Officer will be responsible for meeting and exceeding fundraising objectives and driving new corporate partnerships and sponsorships.

To be successful in this role, you will use your proven fundraising skill set, creative and analytical thinking, donor-centric mindset, and proactive attitude to sustain and grow revenue.

The ideal candidate is driven, creative, compassionate, and strategic with a unique ability to cultivate meaning relationships with secure significant gifts to support Variety’s mission.

ROLE AND KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Build and manage a portfolio of mid-level and major donors, and prospects driving results to meet and exceed the organization’s revenue goals for both the Variety Week and Variety Show of Hearts campaign.
  • Cultivate, solicit, and steward mid to major donor relationships.
  • Develop and implement clearly defined strategies and plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding your portfolio.
  • Maintain a robust pipeline of qualified potential new donors for significant new funding opportunities that align with Variety’s needs and priorities.
  • Consistently deliver on thoughtful, creative, and exceptional donor experiences.
  • Create innovative programs and initiatives to thank and steward Variety Week and Variety Show of Hearts donors including customized stewardship reports and effective mediums to recognize the impact of their individual support.
  • Track fundraising, donor relations, and stewardship activities in the database to enhance relationships and increase the likelihood of continued support.
  • Manage, coordinate, and drive fundraising, marketing, and administrative projects, as requested.

Requirements

  • A clear passion for Variety’s vision to see every child with complex health needs fulfil their unique potential and to create an inclusive world where no child is left behind.
  • A strong understanding of major gift fundraising best practices and ability to secure gifts from individual donors with expertise in all aspects of fundraising including pipeline development, cultivation, and solicitation of gifts at the five-figure level and above.
  • A degree or diploma from a recognized institute or a combination of experience and education.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in fundraising role with a proven track record of success.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to share stories, inspire donors and build long term, meaningful relationships.
  • The ability to demonstrate flexibility and to thrive in ever-changing conditions and environments.
  • Exceptional time management, planning and organizational skills, with an emphasis on detail and accuracy.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and develop donor relationships.
  • Possess strong listening, speaking, and writing skills.
  • Energetic, self-starter who exhibits strong leadership skills and a can-do attitude.
  • Highly organized and able to manage multiple projects with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • A degree or diploma from a recognized institute or a combination of experience and education.
  • Strong Microsoft Office computer skills and experience using Raiser’s Edge or a similar database management system.

Benefits

PDFSalary range : $70,000 to $80,000.
