Senior Software Developer - Applications

Job Description

This is a hybrid role with 3-4 days in our Montreal office

As a Full stack developer on Vention’s Applications team, you will be responsible for designing, building and testing robotics solutions which leverage Vention’s hardware, automation and software ecosystem as well as our partners.

You will lead the frontend portion of the robotics solutions and contribute on the full stack. You will work hands-on with robots on a daily basis, and with multiple leading robot brands such as FANUC, Universal Robots, and ABB.

You will work closely with Automation Engineers, Electrical Engineers, Mechanical Engineers, and Robotics Engineers from Vention’s core product teams.

The Full stack developer is called to work in various phases of a product, from early-stage prototyping / mockup with a marketing intent, to late-stage development for client and product milestones.

More specifically you will :

• Architect, build and deploy internal and public-facing features using TypeScript, React and Python
• Write highly maintainable code through simplicity and good requirement assessment
• Design, build, test and characterize robotic solutions leveraging Vention’s ecosystem.
• Work hands-on with robots of multiple brands on a daily basis.
• Inform the core product roadmap by creating prototype and early-version components alongside the Mechanical Hardware and Automation Hardware teams to broaden the scope of Vention’s productized Applications and overall product offering.
• Work on current existing Vention’s MachineApps future releases for continuous improvement and to increase their feature set.
• Learn new industrial manufacturing processes to develop new Vention’s productized applications.
• Work on every step of a robotic product development, from prototyping to development and from full release process to post-release client support.
• Assist in the drafting of documentation for Applications (Design Guides, Integration / Assembly Manuals, Installation Manuals, User Manuals).

Qualifications

• University degree in Software Engineering
• Minimum 5 years of on-the-job experience
• Advanced with Python, React and TypeScript, Go is an asset
• Project experience with UI or industrial HMI development
