About the role

The Senior Analyst, Financial Planning and Analysis works closely with the Senior Manager, FP&A and plays a crucial role in financial management and strategic planning of the organization.

This position contributes to the overall financial success of the organization by conducting comprehensive financial analysis, creating financial reports, documenting financial processes and ad-hoc Excel reports, forecasting future trends, and assisting in the development of effective financial guidelines.

In this role you will :

Budgeting and Analysis

  • Produces ad-hoc reports and financial analysis when requested and translates information and requirements into meaningful analysis by understanding the intended value or decisions the analysis will support, its intended audience and importance and assessing time / effort required for the analysis accordingly.
  • Maintains up-to-date and reconciled multi-year budgets for all active grants and revenue sources for an organization-wide view and adjusts files regularly in line with new agreements and NI’s quarterly and annual budgeting cycles.
  • Works closely with the Senior Manager, FP&A and the Finance Director, Budgeting and Compliance on the annual budgeting process, including coordination with various stakeholders, consolidation and analysis of NI budgets, and preparation of reports for senior management.
  • Plans, coordinates, and maintains NI’s quarterly budget adjustment, forecasting and variance analysis exercises (rolling plans) providing support to business unit leaders and staff including developing tools, processes and systems required to run the quarterly rolling plan exercise, and produce final reporting and analysis of trends and update adjustments in NI’s financial systems with required timelines.
  • Validates budget submissions by challenging key assumptions based on actual trends and work plans and follows up with business and functional leads as required.

Financial Systems and Data

  • Supports the enhancement of systems and databases used for budgeting, contracting, expenditure tracking, performance management and forecasting to aid analysis, reconciliations, and planning at multiple levels within the organization and in line with NI’s information and coding dimensions.
  • Produces, conceptualizes, and leads process flows, internal controls, standardized user guidance and organizes and delivers trainings on NI’s financial systems for new and existing staff in consultation with other subject matter experts.
  • Continually improves and standardizes the use of existing budgeting / financial tools to deliver and communicate insights into business performance.
  • Provide backup for Senior Database Analyst on executive management dashboard report creation, common data maintenance, and other duties.

Management & Training

  • Trains staff within Budgeting & Compliance team on NI financial systems and processes.
  • Organizes training for new staff and refresher training for existing staff on subjects related to financial systems / applications.
