Location : Vancouver Granville Office, hybrid

Reporting to : Associate Director, Events & Sponsorship

Job status : Permanent full-time FTE (75 hours bi-weekly)

Compensation : $70,000 - $80,000

Canuck Place Children’s Hospice (CPCH) is British Columbia’s recognized pediatric palliative care provider. THE ROLE

The Manager, Events & Sponsorship is responsible for overseeing all aspects of Canuck Place’s signature event fundraising initiatives including sponsorship, auction, and tickets sales.

A significant part of this role is managing and executing the signature event sponsorship strategy, from package design, solicitation, and negotiation to benefit activation and stewardship.

The manager also collaborates closely with gala committees, provides direction and mentorship to two direct reports, manages donor stewardship events, and supports Canuck for Kids Fund initiatives.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage all aspects of the signature event sponsorship program to achieve financial targets, including package design, cultivation, solicitation, negotiation, benefit fulfillment, reporting, and stewardship, with support from the Coordinator, Events & Sponsorship
  • Provide oversight and support for the development and execution of Gift of Time and Gift of Love auction and ticket sales strategies, with assistance from the Coordinator, Events
  • Collaborates with gala committees in reaching their objectives with emphasis on providing exceptional communication, resources, and support during planning and execution
  • Provides direction, guidance, and mentorship to both the Coordinator, Events & Sponsorship and the Coordinator, Events.
  • Oversees the strategy, planning, and development of guest communications for all fundraising and stewardship events
  • Oversee pre-event and on-site fundraising initiatives including gala raffles and the Enjoy it Now Wine Program
  • Supports the development of signature event design concepts and décor
  • Assist in creating the guest journey for all events to mitigate risk and establish contingency plans
  • Manage post-event donor stewardship and impact reporting in collaboration with internal teams
  • Work closely with CPCH Volunteer Services to manage volunteer recruitment, training, and execution for all events
  • Manages the budget, contracts, and logistics for donor stewardship events, working closely with the Development team to define objectives, event concepts, invitation processes, and volunteer requirements
  • Works closely with the CPCH Donor Services and Finance teams on data management, payment processing, tax receipting, and donor inquiries
  • Support Canucks for Kids Fund activations including Community Corner game nights, the CFKF Telethon, Vancouver and Abbotsford Canucks player visits to the hospices, and volunteer opportunities such as Live 2 Give Day.
  • Oversees CPCH involvement / partnership in BMO Vancouver Marathon RUN4HOPE

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

QUALIFICATIONS

What you bring to the role :

  • Experience supporting the planning and execution of large-scale fundraising events ($500k+ in revenue)
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and execute an effective sponsorship strategy including identifying sponsorship opportunities, negotiating agreements, tracking and delivering benefits, and providing exceptional stewardship to build long-term relationships
  • Experience in designing compelling sponsorship packages that align with sponsors' objectives and provide tangible benefits, ensuring a mutually beneficial partnership
  • A track record of successfully executing effective fundraising strategies to achieve financial targets
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Proven experience in leading and motivating a team, providing clear direction, and fostering a supportive, collaborative, and high-performance work environment
  • Established project management skills to oversee all aspects of events, including budgeting, logistics, and timelines
  • A commitment to maintaining high standards of quality and accuracy in all event-related materials, communications, and deliverables, even when working under tight deadlines.
  • Proven strategic, creative, and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to be a collaborative team player who is able to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships, both internally and externally in a hybrid work environment
  • Excellent organization and time management skills, and the ability to be flexible around changing priorities
  • Proven capability to remain composed and make effective decisions when facing tight deadlines, unexpected challenges, or high-pressure situations
  • Clear and valid BC driver’s license and access to a vehicle are required
  • Proficiency in Trello, Raiser’s Edge, Givergy, Adobe InDesign, and WordPress are an asset

  • Flexibility is necessary, as this position requires occasional weekend and evening work and travel within the Lower Mainland.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

Post-secondary degree or diploma in event planning, marketing, or communications. A minimum of 7+ years’ experience in event management, particularly in planning and executing fundraising events;

or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
