Our client is a well-established supplier of high-quality construction materials including HVAC, lighting, electrical products.
They are expanding their manufacturing and product development side of the business and are in need of a new HVAC expert for their Surrey, BC head office.
The Product Development Engineer will be responsible for developing innovative products that will keep our client competitive in the continuously evolving commercial and residential HVAC market.
This is a full-time, permanent role offering the opportunity to make a true impact within the organization and creating the structure to take their business to the next level.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct research & recommend new products, services, and market trends to stakeholders.
- Oversee the entire product lifecycle from inception to end-of-life.
- Assess and qualify vendors to ensure they meet specification.
- Proficiently create and interpret 3D drawings using Revit (nice to have) and AutoCAD.
- Stay updated on industry regulations and technical requirements.
- Develop products that meet customer needs while balancing performance and cost.
- Collaborate with sales team to position our client's products competitively.
- Identify opportunities for product and productivity enhancements.
- Maintain an expert understanding of competitors’ product offerings.
- Represent company positively and participate in industry organizations like ASHRAE and AHRI.
- Travel as needed across Canada, the USA, and overseas.
- Engage with stakeholders through tradeshows, meetings, and HVAC industry events.
- Support Sales Reps and Mechanical Consultants with HVAC product training.
- Support continuous improvement by assessing HVAC components, analyzing warranty data, and exploring cost-saving opportunities.
Qualifications :
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a similar discipline with a focus on HVAC.
- 2-5 years of working in the commercial / residential HVAC industry in Canada.
- Development and manufacturing HVAC products experience (is a plus).
- Experience working with CAD & Revit Files (is a plus).
- Working knowledge of regulations, standards, and codes such as, UL, AHRI, and ASHRAE.
- Proven track record of researching, analyzing, and developing new ideas or products.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- Strong communication skills, particularly in translating technical information into easily comprehensible terms for diverse audience.
- Strong multitasking and time management abilities.
- In-depth knowledge of HVAC products, controls, BMS, BACnet, design and regulations, especially for ventilation and AC (ERVs, indoor ventilation, etc.).
- In-depth ERV / HRV technology knowledge.
- Willingness to travel up to 30% across North America (mostly) and overseas.
- Ability to research HVAC industry rules, products, and competing market.
Compensation :
- $100-140k base salary (negotiable).
