Job descriptionOversee all marketing activities including flyers, online marketing and the development and maintenance of the United Floors website. Invite suppliers to promote product lines , establish price grid to be used by members for flyer events, negotiate advertising space in flyers with suppliers , meet with the team and MAC to ensure flyer meets criteria for success and includes products promoted by members; Continuously seek out new marketing strategies to promote the banner; Look to maximize existing marketing strategies for best value added benefits for the group; Develop good working relationships with all floor covering suppliers and renew supplier agreements as required; Ensure members are supporting group preferred suppliers and carry all core products programs; Negotiate new product launch introductions for upcoming year to include cost of samples, delivery dates, and additional advertising funds. Present new products to the MAC and obtain approvals from the MAC; Develop pricing and product strategies for sales events throughout the year; Coordinate annual SURFACES trip to include meetings with suppliers for new product presentations, show buys, and future product launches; Maximize benefits of suppliers working with group; Negotiates supplier agreements maximizing volume rebates, advertising co-op’s for members, and Central Billing Allowances and Early Paid Discounts for Cantrex Nationwide Organize attendance of members and suppliers at all conventions and meetings Ensure accuracy and distribution of the following reports : Monthly financial statement for the banner Monthly sales and purchase reports Monthly activity report to the COO Chair the annual convention for the membership; Chair periodic meetings of the MAC. Integrity; Strategic leadership skills; Ability to empower others; Capacity to negotiate and plan effectively; Organizational skills; Team player. Minimum of 7 years retail program management experience in the Floor Covering Industry; University education in marketing, merchandising or related fields; Good understanding of financial terms; Proven experience as a strong negotiator with suppliers; Strong communicator in English, written and spoken; Strong presentation skills; Intermediate computer skills in Word, Excel and Power-Point; Hands-on manager and strategic thinker; Ability to travel as needed, approximately 30% of the time.
Reporting to the President and Chief Operating Officer, the Banner Director will be responsible for the leadership and development of the United Floors Banner, which is comprised of independent retailers located throughout English speaking Canada and bound to Cantrex Nationwide (CNW) through a Banner Agreement.
Working closely with a Membership Advisory Council (MAC) and suppliers, the Banner Director will develop and direct progressive and effective marketing strategies and will be responsible for the operations of the banner. The incumbent is also responsible for overseeing employees and will work closely with the stores and the Financial Department.
