Job Description
We are seeking a Transportation Planner / Traffic Engineer to join our Transportation Planning and Traffic Engineering team.
The Transportation group within GHD Canada collaborates with Provincial, Regional, and municipal transportation agencies on large-scale projects across highways, roads, bridges, transit infrastructure, transportation planning, and roundabouts. Our team provides comprehensive transportation services throughout the project lifecycle, from initial policy and transportation economics to environmental assessment, detailed design, and construction administration.
In this role, you will :
- Contribute to the development of junior staff
- Coordinate work across different disciplines (municipal, structural, technical support)
- Develop client relationships and identify new business opportunities
- Prepare technical memos, reports, proposals, and strategic plans
- Assess needs for road facilities and transit services
- Research land use, demographic, and travel data
- Address transportation impacts for developments and land uses
- Assist with travel forecast analysis
- Develop and evaluate alternative road improvements and concept designs
- Incorporate transit, pedestrian, and active transportation strategies into studies
- Provide traffic engineering and transportation planning services for Environmental Assessments and roadway projects
- Review and develop transportation policies
- Develop transit service and access recommendations
- Conduct intersection operations and microsimulation analysis
- Develop evaluation frameworks and business case analyses for transportation infrastructure projects
Qualifications :
A degree in Civil Engineering or Urban Planning with at least 7 years of transportation experienceLicensed Professional Engineer, Registered Professional Planner, or Engineer-in-training / Planning Candidate in OntarioStrong understanding of Ontario transportation planning and traffic engineering standardsExperience with safety audits, collision analysis, and urban designProficiency with AutoCAD, GIS, Synchro, Sidra, Vissim, and Adobe Creative Suite is an assetProficient in Microsoft Office SuiteExcellent organizational, communication, and report-writing skillsAbility to work independently and in a team environmentWe value diversity and are an equal opportunity employer.
