Project Coordinator

At Flynn, it's not just a job, it's a career Flynn Group of Companies is currently looking for a Project Coordinator to support our Cowichan Hospital Project located in Cowichan, BC reporting to the Manager of Major Projects.

This position will be an onsite coordinator for the Cowichan Hospital project to assist with all glazing, cladding and roofing.

A Day in the Life

• Directing and coordinating activities of project personnel to ensure project progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
• Creating status reports and modifying schedules or plans as required.
• Preparing project reports for management, client, or others.
• Communicating all aspects of job status, such as changes and schedule delays etc. with customer.
• Working closely under the guidance and direction of the Project Manager and Superintendent, learn and apply Flynn systems and methods.

Project Process Management (PPM).

• Assist the Project Manager and Superintendent, where applicable, in the day to day duties of a project’s administration.
• Assist in plan and specification analysis in order to provide clear, trackable and coordinated interpretations of the design / drawings for construction.
• Research and recommend solutions to design document problems, including conflicts, interferences and errors / omissions.
• Act as liaison with General Contractor in expediting drawings and related information.
• Maintain and update the Shop Drawing Log, review Shop Drawings and submittals.
• Coordinate submittals and procure all close-out documents including warranties and Operating and Maintenance Manuals.
• Assist with the research and preparation of field change requests to resolve design issues. Conduct quality control activities in accordance with instructions, inspection programs, using specified control measuring and testing equipment.
• Understand and perform document control functions in accordance with on-site policy and procedures.
• Review incoming contracts for accuracy and acceptance prior to VP signing.
• Maintain Job Binder & Job Reports.
• Review and record shop drawings.
• Attend jobsite meetings including final inspections (where possible or necessary).

What We Are Seeking

• Must be a recent graduate of a civil engineering / building science program or a related educational field, or have a minimum of 1 year work experience in a construction environment
• Experience with Glazing, Metal Panels, Roofing or the entire Building Envelope an asset
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Strong PC skills in MS Office
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multitask
• Quick and eager to learn
• Ability to work individually and in a team environment
• AutoCAD skills an asset
• Proficiency in Bluebeam and MS office package, including MS Project
• Highly motivated with strong organizational, analytical, problem solving and decision-making abilities
• Strong blueprint reading skills
