The Role :
This role is a key mid-level position within the Finance team; the incumbent is responsible for performing general accounting functions and providing essential support for preparing various financial reports and statements, including relevant research and supporting analysis.
Core Areas of Responsibility :
Financial Reporting
- Supports the audit process by gathering materials and collating information, as requested.
- Contributes to the completion of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
- Assists in review of biweekly accounts payable entries.
- Supports the gathering of information related to and completion of the T3010.
- Contributes to the preparation of year-end financial statement note disclosure.
- Contributes to the Finance & Audit Committee agenda and meeting preparation.
- Assists with year-end and beginning-of-year duties such as general ledger reconciliations, spending policy calculations, and administrative fee calculations.
Finance & Banking
- Conducts banking activity with oversight from senior Finance team members.
- Supports the processing of gifts of securities.
- Activates and adds affiliations for new grantees in the financial system.
- Supports finance area activity, including gift and tax receipting, accounts and grants payable processes, statistical reporting, fund coding and all other general accounting functions.
- Supports other finance functions and participates on internal committees, as requested.
About You :
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
- 3-5 years experience in an accounting or finance role.
- Working towards Chartered Professional Accountant designation is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Robust analytical skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Excel.
