The Role :

This role is a key mid-level position within the Finance team; the incumbent is responsible for performing general accounting functions and providing essential support for preparing various financial reports and statements, including relevant research and supporting analysis.

Core Areas of Responsibility :

Financial Reporting

  • Supports the audit process by gathering materials and collating information, as requested.
  • Contributes to the completion of monthly and quarterly reporting requirements.
  • Assists in review of biweekly accounts payable entries.
  • Supports the gathering of information related to and completion of the T3010.
  • Contributes to the preparation of year-end financial statement note disclosure.
  • Contributes to the Finance & Audit Committee agenda and meeting preparation.
  • Assists with year-end and beginning-of-year duties such as general ledger reconciliations, spending policy calculations, and administrative fee calculations.

Finance & Banking

  • Conducts banking activity with oversight from senior Finance team members.
  • Supports the processing of gifts of securities.
  • Activates and adds affiliations for new grantees in the financial system.
  • Supports finance area activity, including gift and tax receipting, accounts and grants payable processes, statistical reporting, fund coding and all other general accounting functions.
  • Supports other finance functions and participates on internal committees, as requested.

About You :

  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in business, finance, accounting, or related field.
  • 3-5 years experience in an accounting or finance role.
  • Working towards Chartered Professional Accountant designation is an asset.

Skills and Abilities

  • Robust analytical skills, including advanced use of Microsoft Excel.

The Recruitment Process

  • First in-person interview (conducted within two weeks after phone screening interviews).

  • Second in-person interview (within two weeks after the first interview).
  • Start date : October 2024 .
