The Inuvialuit Development Corporation (IDC) is a 100% Indigenous-owned, diversified investment and management holding company that has successfully cultivated a growth-oriented portfolio across various industries.
IDC is one of Canada’s most successful Indigenous development corporations with significant holdings in Northern and Southern Canada.
IDC’s Northern business subsidiaries that are the focus of this role include a retail store operation, a construction company, a hotel / restaurant, a camp services company, a regional airline, and a property management company.
This group of companies generates about $70 million in annual revenues and employs about 150 people.
As the senior human resources person in the organization, the new Director, Human Resources will report directly to the President and will lead the development of human resources strategies, including recruitment, compensation and capacity building, and will prioritize identifying, hiring and mentoring an Inuvialuit Beneficiary to be their successor.
Based in Inuvik, Northwest Territories or in Calgary, Alberta, this role involves delivering centralized strategic human resources programs, providing HR support for IDC’s Northern subsidiary business operations, and managing HR / cultural due diligence for potential acquisition opportunities.
As the Director, HR, you will leverage the resources of the IRC while immersing yourself in Inuvialuit culture and values, ensuring that decisions align with IDC’s threefold objectives : driving profitability from subsidiaries, providing employment opportunities for Inuvialuit, and generating commercial prospects for Inuvialuit-owned businesses.
As the ideal candidate, you are a seasoned human resources leader with a proven track record in supporting business operations, ideally with a broad range of industry exposure.
Demonstrated expertise in developing human resources strategies and mentoring direct reports to achieve career progression are essential.
Experience supporting a group of diverse company operations and / or working with an Indigenous organization will be highly valued, as will demonstrated experience enhancing the people and culture brand of companies to facilitate improved recruiting and retention.
