Job purpose

The Logistics Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth operations of the Warehousing, 3PL, inbound, outbound inventory movement & Inventory functions as well any reverse logistics.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for the successful day-to-day operation of our 3PL and our warehousing locations.
  • Negotiate contracts with 3PLs, external and internal warehouses, carriers and transportation companies.
  • Responsible for evaluating and achieving cost-to-serve efficiencies to meet company targets.
  • Regularly reviews scheduling methods and provides suggestions in order to continuously improve scheduling system to the supply chain director.
  • Accountable for ensuring that inventory levels for location are monitored closely. Review and address excess and obsolete and on hold inventories.
  • Manages FIFO and ensures ERP system on hands is accurate through cycle counts, Chep pallet management and reporting. Provide recommendations to the supply chain director for inventory management and how to adjust distribution plans as appropriate to maximize warehouse / 3PL efficiencies.
  • Analyze trends in 3PL data / performance, inventory movement, adjustments and identify opportunities to maximize profit, minimize cost-to-serve, recommend value-added business solutions and determine potential areas for improvement and growth.
  • Conducts monthly analysis of aging inventory, partial pallets, work in progress inventory and ensure we are addressing and resolving any logistics issues.
  • Conduct monthly review of carrier selection, costs, performance in order to maximize savings and delivery performance for both inbound and outbound logistics.
  • Establish and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's) for the entire logistics team and ensure that a program is in place to continuously monitor the performance and adherence of those procedures.
  • Establish metrics and translate into individual performance criteria and perform logistics team evaluations.
  • Coordinate the preparation of reports as required by director of supply chain.
  • Work with the planning manager in the preparation of ensuring staging and support for weekly production plans / scheduling, trials, and inventory allocation.
  • Ensure raw materials are flowing inbound to support production plans, forecasts, best before dates, FIFO, and turnover.
  • Lead the KPI process and continuous improvements that support the overall drive to lean operations within the supply chain.
  • Responsible for daily management and support for the team to achieve operational success.
  • Monitor time and attendance and ensure compliance with Company Procedures.
  • Approve the vacation requests.
  • Carry out incident, accident and non-conformity investigations and associated reporting and action closure.
  • Issue disciplinary action when needed.
  • Perform other assigned duties.
  • Follow Health and Safety rules and regulations.
  • Must follow Good Manufacturing Practices, Food Safety, and Food Defense guidelines.
  • Comply with all Company policies and procedures

Qualifications

  • 3 to 7 years progressive experience in a key leadership / management role(s) in a logistics / manufacturing facility.
  • Strong computer skills including the ability to use Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Power Point and / or Access) to analyze data and trends.
  • Experience with ERP and inventory counting processes / adjustments.
  • Previous experience / broad understanding of safety systems and enforcement of safety rules and policies.
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, team building and advanced coaching skills.
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills, with the ability to balance production and maintenance needs.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication and listening ability.
  • A strong ability to be adaptable and flexible.
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, negotiating and decision-making skills.
  • Ability to work with teams and lead decision-making processes in a team environment.
  • Highly motivated, results oriented with an ability to multi-task
  • Have thorough understanding of distribution / supplier / vendor networks
  • Strong oral and written communication.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment

Working conditions

  • May be required to stand / sit / walk for long periods of time.
  • Travel to all RDJ locations
  • Always work indoors.
  • Compliant with ventilation, cleanliness, space, lighting, and temperature.

Physical requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Sitting involved.
  • May repeat the same movement.
  • Typing involved.
