Power Engineer
Position Title : Power Engineer
Position Location : Royal Inland Hospital Kamloops, BC
Position Summary : This position is responsible for completion of routine maintenance, demand requisition and planned preventative maintenance tasks and general maintenance.
Shifts are on rotation and consist of daytime, evening, and graveyard hours.
You as a Power Engineer will :
- Perform routine preventative maintenance and inspections of mechanical equipment including air handling units, pumps, chillers, heat exchangers and compressors
- Monitor preventative maintenance requirements completed by qualified third party subcontractors (i.e. fire alarm inspections, backflow preventer inspections, etc.)
- Routinely makes building rounds to inspect equipment for safe operation and any maintenance requirements
- Regular visual inspections to identify any issues, review equipment logs, identify any potential hazards or areas of concern and ensure there are no building operational abnormalities or inefficiencies
- Resolve problems and recommend changes to improve efficiency, reduce operating costs or comply with environmental, building and safety codes
- Ensure HS&E legislation and regulation are being adhered to
- Monitor access to restricted areas such as the roof and telecommunications equipment and ensure that they are kept safe, clean, functional, and accessible
- Respond to emergencies such as power failures, floods, and fires
- Completion of preventative maintenance responsibilities and required documentation in accordance with prescribed Preventative Maintenance Program
- Maintain an inventory of supplies and equipment, and make recommendations regarding the purchase of new equipment
- Update preventative maintenance records including CMMS system
- Ensure specified standards are adhered to in accordance with contract provisions
- Other duties as assigned
Is this role right for you?
- Must be Certified as BC Power Engineer Class 4
- Must have 3 or more years’ experience in building operations experience, preferably in healthcare services
- Must comply with a rotational shift work schedule - this site is a 24HR maintained facility
- Excellent knowledge of HVAC, medical gas, BAS, and plumbing systems
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Good problem-solving skills
- Good organization skills
- Ability to work with minimal supervision
- Ability to respond quickly and appropriately in emergency situations
- Ability to perform duties that vary frequently according to assignment
- Ability to evaluate information against measurable criteria
- Ability to work within output specification standards and limits
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
