The Team Lead, Facility Projects is responsible for the management of projects related to the ongoing Building Systems preventative and reactive maintenance programs as well as projects associate with ongoing lifecycle replacement and asset management planning. Primary duties include :

  • Manage Building Systems asset lifecycle replacement projects, resource planning and major maintenance projects using third party contractors and consultants from project initiation through to execution and close out.
  • Review design drawings and specifications in alignment with anticipated maintenance projects.
  • Coordinate with other business units, City departments and outside contractors when overlapping projects / programs have direct impact to Building Systems assets with potential to reduce service levels of Calgary Transit.
  • Act as the Construction Coordinator Committee representative for Building Systems projects that may occur during scheduled LRT Right-of-Way (ROW) closures.
  • Develop, administrate, and maintain contracts for contractors and consultants and Project Agreements for facilities projects.
  • Review and approve invoices ensuring progress invoicing is verified against the scope of work that has been completed.
  • Monitor invoices submitted to Accounts Payable (AP) to ensure compliance to RFx contractual obligations and with the City of Calgary accounting policies and procedures.
  • Draft procurement documentation for new and existing third-party contracts for review and approval.
  • Provide support and guidance to unionized employees by understanding the Collective Bargaining Agreements, managing vacation approvals, time entry and scheduling.
  • Coordinate training requirements through internal and external resources ensuring that employees are proficient to complete project tasks.
  • Review, identify, prioritize, and plan lifecycle replacement and major maintenance projects per Capital and Operational budgets.
  • Implement mechanical, electrical, and civil projects for 295 facilities representing approximately 15,000 assets to reduce equipment failure rates and downtime improving overall safety and reliability of Calgary Transit infrastructure.

Qualifications

  • A completed engineering technology diploma in electrical, mechanical, civil, facility or construction related field.
  • At least 5 years of experience related to project management, planning, organizing, contract management, or construction administration and at least 2 years of those years spent supervising staff.
  • Knowledge of building codes, industry trends and standards in building inspection, maintenance or transit operations and practices are required.
  • A designation or accreditation as a Project Management Professional (PMP), or Maintenance Management Professional (MMP) would be considered an asset.
  • Equivalent combinations of experience and education may be considered.
  • This position requires a high degree of competency in project management, planning, organizing, contract management, construction administration, research, computer literacy and record keeping skills.
  • A high degree of initiative, judgement and problem-solving skills, excellent communication skills and the ability to make effective decisions with limited supervision.

Working Conditions : Mainly working in an office environment with site visits as required.
