Position Overview
Calian is seeking a Senior Project Leader / Executive to support the Future Aircrew Training (FAcT) program. This role involves assisting the Directorate of Air Simulation and Training (DAST) in the implementation, transition, and in-service support from the previous Contracted Flight Training Services (CFTS) and NATO Flying Training Centre (NFTC) programs to the FAcT program.
Responsibilities
The Senior Project Leader / Executive will provide the following services, as requested by the Project Authority :
- Advise and recommend systems engineering framework implementation.
- Offer expertise and guidance on the implementation of Ground Based Training Systems.
- Assist in the acquisition and acceptance of Aircraft Training Systems.
- Provide advice, recommendations, plans, and policies for the transition to the Future Aircrew Training Program.
- Deliver insights on Technical and Operational Airworthiness.
- Offer expertise on flying training operations and sustainment.
- Develop briefing materials, reports, and expert advice for the DAST FAcT Management team, supporting Treasury Board Submissions for legacy program extension.
- Liaise with internal sections (C Air Force staff, ADM(Mat)) and external agencies within and outside the CAF.
Qualifications
- Security Clearance : Must have or be eligible to obtain a Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance.
- Experience Requirements :
- Flight Simulators Acquisition : At least 5 years in the past 15 years of experience managing or developing certification requirements for flight simulators following ICAO 9625 standards.
- Military Aircraft Systems Engineering : At least 5 years in the past 15 years of experience in systems engineering to develop and manage technical requirements for military aircraft acquisition.
- Briefing Senior Management : At least 5 years in the past 15 years developing and delivering briefing packages to senior management (Director General and above) on :
- ICAO 9625 standards and their implications on aircraft acquisition.
- Aircraft or simulator In-Service Support.
- Project Management principles and activities.
- Technical Leadership for High-Value Projects : Minimum of 3 years in the past 5 years leading requirement specifications for aircraft or simulation acquisition projects valued over $100M, including :
- Preparing technical materials (Requirements Specifications, Statements of Work, Data Item Descriptions, Contract Data Requirements Lists).
- Reviewing technical deliverables.
- Attending technical reviews.
- Providing subject matter expertise to the Technical Authority.
Additional Requirements
- Sustainment Experience : Experience as a subject matter expert in the Canadian aerospace industry in developing, managing, or implementing sustainment elements, including :
- Development of sustainment documentation for aerospace contracts.
- Implementation or transition of aerospace equipment or services contracts.
- Airworthiness Activities : At least 5 years in the past 15 years of experience in planning, implementing, or overseeing Operational or Technical Airworthiness Clearance activities for military aircraft.
- Performance-Based Contracting : Minimum 5 years in the past 15 years of experience developing or managing aerospace performance-based contracts with an annual value of $100M or more, in either a military or civilian organization.
