The Role :
The Safety Manager is responsible for leading the development and implementation of safety and risk management policies and procedures in compliance with provincial and local regulators such as Technical Safety and Work Safe BC.
Responsibilities :
- Develop and implement safety procedures and protocols for tag operations and activities.
- Identify potential hazards and conduct thorough risk assessments.
- Ensure adherence to all government statutes, laws, bylaws, and permit restrictions and represent the company proactively to official representatives.
- Develop and deliver safety training including running emergency response drills.
- Develop comprehensive emergency response plans for different scenarios such as injuries, accidents, or natural disasters.
- Maintain system for reporting and investigating incidents or near misses and identify any weaknesses in safety procedures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
- Champion Joint Health and Safety Committee, conduct monthly meetings, communicate meeting minutes and update OH&S documentation to ensure compliance with Work Safe BC.
- Keep abreast of changes in safety regulations.
- Maintain open lines of communication with employees, management and external bodies relating to safety.
- Ensure team members have all mandatory safety training.
- Develop and maintain Standard Operating Procedures relating to safety.
- Encourage a culture of safety within TAG.
- Maintain appropriate safetyrecords.
- Support day-to-day operations.
- Other duties as reasonably directed.
Requirements :
- Understanding of safety regulations and standards relevant to adventure activities
- Experience in developing and delivering safety training programs
- Ability to lead and motivate staff members to prioritize safety in all aspects of their work.
- Excellent communication skills to effectively convey safety protocols and procedures to staff at all levels and to interact with regulatory agencies.
- Analytical and problem solving skills to assess risks and develop strategies for mitigating
- Computer skills, including word, excel and PowerPoint
Salary and Team Perks :
- $65,000 - $80,000 annual salary based on experience and qualifications.
