The Team

About the Office of Vice Provost, Students

  • With a focus on responsiveness and empathy, the vice-provost, students oversees a portfolio of over 441 employees who work across the following core areas : The Office of the Registrar and Undergraduate Admissions & Recruitment;
  • Athletics & Recreation; Student Affairs which includes student learning support, career services, housing, student life and community care (student conduct and advocacy, sexual violence support and education);
  • Student Wellbeing which includes the medical centre, counselling, health promotion, academic accommodations and testing;

and International Enrolment.

The Office of the Vice-Provost, Students (OVPS) actively supports the university’s academic plan, and its strategic priority of enabling greater student engagement and success through exceptional experiences.

The Opportunity

The Manager of Strategic Operations & Special Projects is responsible for efficiently planning, coordinating, and executing administrative functions, programs, and activities within the Office of the Vice-Provost, Students.

This role supports the Executive Director, OVPS, by organizing and managing issues and information to advance the office's goals and ensure smooth workflow.

Additionally, the manager provides administrative, communications, and issues management support to the Vice-Provost, Students, in collaboration with the Executive Director.

The position also leads research initiatives and special projects, while serving as the primary point of contact for the Office.

Qualifications

To help us learn more about you, please provide a cover letter and resume describing how you meet the following required qualifications :

  • Completion of a post-secondary degree is required, preferably in business administration or another related field.
  • A minimum five years of relevant experience providing executive administrative support to senior management, ideally within a similar organization.
  • Proven ability to prioritize issues, manage files efficiently, engage in high-level planning, and apply strong problem-solving, written, and verbal communication skills to collaborate effectively with a diverse group of individuals.
  • Political and / or policy acumen.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to handle sensitive and confidential issues appropriately.
  • Excellent customer service skills including the ability to deal professionally, diplomatically and sensitively with all types of individuals.
  • Strong organizational skills, adaptability, and flexibility.
  • Strong analytical and decision-making skills.
