About the Role
The Senior Electrical Engineer will be based in our Vancouver office. The role will be exposed to the entire project lifecycle from feasibility and planning to detailed design, construction, and commissioning.
The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to :
- Supervising Electrical Designers and Engineers-in-Training (EIT) to prepare electrical drawings and specifications
- Ensuring electrical designs conform with all applicable codes and standards
- Implementing design concepts through the preparation and development of drawings production and ensuring quality assurance and quality checks
- Strong experience in electrical distribution design for both medium and low voltage
- Good understanding of lighting, fire alarm and mechanical equipment connections design
- Familiar with utilities requirements, standards for service upgrades, new service requests and variance requests
- Developing various types of reports that include but are not limited to building assessments, schematic design reports, and design development reports
- Providing technical and admin support throughout all phases of the project
- Able to work well with the entire project team including : prime consultant, sub-consultants, facility management and developer from project concept stage to occupancy
- Providing mentorship and coaching to junior and intermediate engineers and designers
- Familiar with construction administration responsibilities from SI, CCN, contractor’s quotation review and shop drawings review and progress claim reviews
- Attending site meetings and site reviews complete with producing reports
- Handling tight schedules and limited resources while motivating team members for optimum performance
- Being a team player with good technical skills and problem solving skills
- Skilled in scheduling, organizing tasks and setting up priorities
Minimum Requirements :
Demonstrated equivalency of experience and / or education may be considered
Preferred Requirements :
- Electrical Engineering education with minimum of 14 years of experience in the engineering consulting industry in a building engineering group and minimum 5 years as a Project Manager
- Registration as a Professional Engineer
- Familiar with building codes, electrical code, fire alarm standards, ASHRAE and municipal bylaws
- Experience in new development projects and tenant improvement projects
- Familiar with electrical design requirements for different types of sectors from residential, mixed-use, healthcare, institutional to light industrial
- Experience in transportation projects is a great asset
- Experience with short circuit and fault study software is a great asset
- Knowledge with Revit and AutoCAD
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to communicate, coordinate, work well with others both internally & external
- A good team player and decision maker
