SUMMARY : INTRODUCTION

INTRODUCTION

Our client, an internationally renowned company with state-of-the-art FMCG Manufacturing plants located in SA, requires the full-time services of a Junior Project Implementation Engineer to implement Projects at various Business Unit sites, full-time based in Caledon, Western Cape.

Job purpose :

To Implement Capital Projects at the various BU Sites against defined Project Methodologies to achieve the required standards of Project Quality and Safety within agreed time frames in the most cost effective manner.

Renewable annual contracts - long term.

To commence ASAP.

POSITION INFO :

Key role and responsibilities :

  • Provide high level scopes and budget in consultation with the Development team for annual planning purposes.
  • Once projects are approved, support the Development team as required to ensure that project charters, concept designs to RFQ level of detail and outputs are clearly defined.
  • Participate as required in the technical supplier adjudications to assist with appropriate appointments
  • Do detailed integration design, with the support of the Development team to ensure that different work packages fit together.
  • Ensure that FAT’s, HAZOP and quality assurance interventions are carried out and participate as required
  • Develop and agree on a realistic project time plan that meets the business requirements.
  • Set up and manage a project risk register.
  • Ensure that support staff are managed at the sites to carry out project execution.
  • Ensure that established procurement processes are followed for scope changes, variation orders etc.
  • Implement and follow approved project procedures, safety plans, milestone sign offs and authorization levels
  • Manage Operational Readiness requirements so that Production staff have the training, and systems in place to operate the equipment in accordance with VPO.
  • Liaise with production staff to agree on and carry out scheduled tie ins that minimize production stoppages.
  • Prepare a handover pack to enable the finishing team to successfully complete the projects butt lists, PAT’s and as built documentation.

Provide management support to ensure that the finishing phase is properly completed.

Reporting

  • Provide the PMO function with relevant information required to track project progress
  • In conjunction with the CAPEX function, ensure that the project, commitments, cash flow and general expenditure is in accordance with approved budgets

Qualifications and experience :

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical) - NOT negotiable
  • Qualification in Project Management advantageous
  • 2-4 years Project Management experience in engineering and construction environment
  • Knowledge of mega projects recommended but not essential
  • Knowledge of processing, utilities, civils and packaging equipment in the liquid / food industry advantageous
  • Experience in beverages Industry will be beneficial
  • Proven experience in solving technical project related problems with pragmatic solutions
  • Manage contractors in a continuous cycle of planning, organizing and controlling
