Role accountabilities :
- Undertake a range of planning assignments including land development, community planning, urban design, land use studies and public engagement
- Conduct due diligence research, field work, analysis and report writing, site analysis, site design, strategic planning, and municipal policy overviews
- Develop, review, and manage the approval process for land use planning applications
- Assist in business development and the preparation of proposals and contracts for clients for planning assignments and multi-disciplinary projects
- Contribute to all aspects of land use planning projects with a preferred interest and focus on land development, subdivision planning, site design and / or urban design
- Prepare municipal planning documents and policies (Outline Plan, ASP, NSP and zoning by-laws)
- Manage and support multiple planning projects
- Support Public Engagement processes from process design through to implementation
- Analyze development situations from competing points of view
- Network and build relationships with current and prospective clients and other strategic contacts
- Represent our practice / projects at conferences or other events
Qualifications
Qualifications and Experience :
- 3-10 years of experience in planning, urban design, or applied professions
- Eligible for Registered Professional Planner (RPP) designation
- An accredited degree in Urban Planning; a masters degree is an asset
- IAP2 certification is an asset
- Familiarity with provincial planning legislation and the development approval process
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
