There's never been a better time to join Smiths. And help us create the future. Job Description THIS ROLE IS BASED OUT OF CUSTOMER SITE IN LLOYDMINSTER, AB.

As a Customer Reliability Engineer you will work on-site at a customer facility, coordinate schedules and participate in work with the customer to comply with the Reliability Support Agreement (RSP) .

You must be able to troubleshoot by investigating problems related to product performance and application specific issues.

You will make complex and independent seal and equipment evaluations, selections and recommendations and manage John Crane owned inventory at site.

You'll interact with customer appointed program manager, as needed to ensure needs are met and customer is satisfied with John Crane performance of RSP.

Also addressing any issues immediately as they arise. Travel as required performing duties and working directly with customers Duties & Responsibilities

  • Reviews customer applications proactively and makes specific recommendations for MTBR improvement under general direction of the engineering.
  • Analyzes and evaluates specific customer applications. Then submits recommendations for improvement via the John Crane Application Data Information Sheet directly to Engineer.
  • Directs and troubleshoots as required the application, installation and commissioning of mechanical seals and their auxiliary support systems.
  • Observes, collects and evaluates customer data. Then reports seal program’s results utilizing John Crane’s current reliability management software, under general direction of the engineering.
  • Analyzes the equipment survey for inventory optimization opportunities within current consignment management guidelines.

Manage, consolidate and standardize inventory at all times.

  • Maintains John Crane s equipment survey.
  • Communicates orally and in writing with customers, company personnel, and vendors providing counseling, recommendations, and technical assistance.

May include making technical presentations to customers or management with oversight from the engineering.

  • Provide customer training for maintenance and operations personnel as required.
  • Assists customer with the Management Of Change (MOC) process.
  • Prepare and submit MOC Forms for new stock requirements, deletion of obsolete stock items and complete catalog description changes.

Needs signature by Managing Director and Client Contract Representative.

  • Collects new equipment data sheets from customer’s project engineers and makes initial recommendations for approval by engineering.
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as necessary to comply with specific contractual terms of the agreement, or as required by the manager.
  • Monitors KPI’s, prepares and submit monthly reports by due date. Reports to include charts of all relevant KPI’s, list of activities performed to improve reliability, track recommendations made and their implementation, follow up on recommendations to drive improvements in reliability.
  • Prepare for and participate in all meetings related to John Crane performance, onsite meetings with clients focused on reliability, EH&S and quality.
  • Preform seal condition analysis inspections and reports to determine root cause for seal change to improve equipment reliability and up time.
  • Maintain account coverage with up to date back up plan during vacations and holidays.
  • Maintain up-to-date safety training records for site access.
  • Other duties as assigned. The Individual
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree
  • Experience : Minimum of 5 years in Rotating Equipment Reliability
  • Must be a professional engineer
  • Understanding of oil and gas processes
  • Knowledge of pumping systems
  • Well organized
  • Thorough understanding of the Microsoft Office Suite of applications.
  • Works independent and remotely
  • Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication skills to deliver presentations, reports and problem solve
  • Must safely be able to navigate through industrial environment
  • Valid driver’s license and abstract required for insurance purposes
  • Ability to work unsupervised and remotely
  • Minimal travel required but will travel to Regional Office. Works onsite daily at customer location. MUST BE AUTHORIZED TO WORK IN CANADA WITHOUT SPONSORSHIP
