NOTE : This is a temporary position ending on or before May 2025 with thepossibility of extension.

June2024 to August 2024 : 35 hours per week

Mondaythrough Friday; 8 : 00am 4 : 00pm or based on operational needs and availability.

May occasionallyinclude evenings and weekends.

Sept2024 to May 2025 : 15 to 18 hours

Monday through Friday; 8 : 00am 4 : 00pm orbased on operational needs and availability.

Mayoccasionally include evenings and weekends.

As part of the International and Intercultural CommunityCentre (IICC), the International Engagement Assistant supports student learningand development by creating a friendly, safe, and healthy community forinternational and newcomer students.

Reporting to the International EngagementCoordinator, the International Engagement Assistant supports InternationalStudents in their journey of cultural transition to Canada and NAIT.

KeyResponsibilities :

  • Follow the required timeline to provide administrativesupport and assist in organizing and delivering events / programs to foster apositive student community.
  • Assist with recruitment, training, communication,briefing, and service hour tracking of the IICC volunteers.
  • Facilitate low-complexity student events and studentmeetings.
  • Perform data entries that support the InternationalEngagement portfolio.
  • Develop and distribute event promotion graphics andmaterials.
  • Support the implementation of social media plan forinternational community engagement; this includes creating social media posts,stories, and video takeovers to drive engagement.
  • Connect students to different services at NAIT whenappropriate.
  • Support front desk coverage at the IICC as needed.Duties and tasks during front desk coverage may include answering and triaginginquiries, directing students to different service areas, tracking inquiries,and performing other front desk tasks as needed.

Skills& Abilities :

  • Demonstrated experience in student community eventsand program planning and support.
  • Demonstrated strong student leadership, organizationalskills, time management skills, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated NAIT campus involvement and understandingof international student experience and needs.
  • Demonstrated intercultural understanding andawareness.
  • Familiarity with using ookslife.ca, Asana, Canva,Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Teams is an asset.
  • Ability to engage with peers in a community space anddigitally on social media.
  • Ability to facilitate low-complexity studentconversations and events.
  • A good understanding of the various student servicesat NAIT is an asset.

Qualifications :

  • Completion of Grade 12
  • Currently enrolled at NAIT as a student and will beenrolled in the Fall 2024 and Winter 2025 semesters : be in good academicstanding.
  • Equivalences may be considered

Remuneration : $18.49- $23.17 per hour, plus 12% in lieu of stat holiday and vacation pay. (Classification AdministrativeSupport l).

Thisposition is covered by the Alberta Union of Provincial Employees (AUPE)Collective Agreement.
