About the role
The Manager, Data Management is responsible for leading the team of Lead Data Managers, Data Manager, and / or Database Developers in the documentation and design of clinical study data acquisition tools, review of data, and all other Data Management tasks ensuring efficient production of high-quality client and internal deliverables.
They take accountability for overall planning, organization, and coordination of Data Management support for all assigned studies and programs.
In addition, the Manager, Data Management is responsible for employee recruitment, training, and retention as well as collaboration to meet department quality and financial goals.
What You’ll Do Here
- Follow department and company standard operating procedures (SOPs), forms, templates and policies. Provides feedback and update these guidelines as needed.
- Act as the primary Data Management or database development contact for the client and project team for assigned studies, proactively managing sponsor and interdepartmental expectations.
- Provide input on study timelines, identify risks, and communicate mitigation strategies to the Project Manager.
- Manage deliveries and ensures assigned studies or clinical programs achieve timelines and quality per contractual agreements and sponsor and company expectations.
- Manage assignment of Lead Data Managers, Data Managers, and / or Database Developers to studies and clinical programs.
- Identify project risks and issues and actively participates in escalation and resolution.
- Proactively work with cross-functional team members and other departments to anticipate client needs and ensure common understanding and commitment / alignment.
- Attend study team meetings and provides feedback regarding timelines and issue resolution as needed.
- Maintain compliance and ensure departmental awareness of regulatory guidelines of related authorities (Therapeutic Products Directorate TPD , Food and Drug Administration FDA , European Medicines Agency EMA , etc) as well as the International Conference on Harmonisation (ICH) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP) procedures.
- Provide input into improving the efficiency of data management tasks.
- Develop quality processes and maintain corresponding documentation (SOPs and Work Instructions WIs ).
- Lead and participate in intradepartmental or interdepartmental process and quality improvement initiatives. Including both technological and process improvements leading to improved deliverable quality and department efficiency.
- Collaboratively develop training plans and training for all roles within the Data Management department.
- Oversees direct reports.
- Supports management in evaluating staffing needs.
- Other duties as assigned.
What You’ll Need to Succeed
Bachelor's Degree in health-related sciences or relevant field and 5+ years
of industry- or contract research organization (CRO)-related Data
Management experience. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.

- Good computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point) and ability to understand and adapt to multiple information technology (IT) systems.
