Event Sales Manager, Waterworks

Job Description

Located in the heart of the King West neighbourhood, the Waterworks Food Hall sits at the core of the restored Waterworks building.

Housing over 12,000sqf of multi-purpose event space we are seeking a highly motivated Event Sales Manager with an entrepreneurial mindset and natural sales instinct.

Waterworks Food Hall, the much-anticipated new Food Hall, will be open daily with multiple food vendors, bars, and experiences to enjoy.

Boasting four separate and unique event spaces, and the opportunity for full Food Hall buy-outs, this is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the development of the newest event venue helping shape Toronto’s fantastic hospitality landscape.

Responsibilities

Prospecting / Sales

  • Build a client base for both corporate and social markets, through active solicitation and qualifying, and prospecting new business.
  • Attend industry trade shows and networking events to generate new leads and build relationships.
  • Create sales strategies, both inbound and outbound, and participate in weekly asset management meetings.
  • Assist with development of marketing strategies to increase lead generation, target specific business segments, and fill calendar gaps.

Lead Conversion

  • Maintain a response time of less than 24 hours for all incoming communications.
  • Proactively prospect, qualify, and convert new meeting and event leads.
  • Lead site inspections for all prospective clients, vendors, and partners.
  • Negotiate all quotes and contracts balancing the revenue goals of the venue with client budgets.

Leadership

  • Maintain daily accuracy of the CRM including client contact information, leads and associated tasks, related financial information, and related documents that support the sales cycle.
  • Maintain an in-depth knowledge of event spaces and offerings, sales packages, promotions, and policies, making regular recommendations for improvement based on data.
  • Monitor OTB business vs Budget / Forecast and make recommendations accordingly.
  • Achieve and / or exceed quarterly financial targets and monthly KPIs.
  • Track and analyze lost business, conversion ratios, cancellations, and lead / referral files to improve.
  • Effectively communicate with all internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in an event venue or catering company, specializing in sales and business development.
  • Proven sales performance, and solid understanding of the sales cycle and customer journey.
  • Must be highly organized with the ability to manage competing tasks and deadlines, of comparable priority.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of guests, employees, property management, and ownership.
  • Energetic and outgoing, with a positive attitude, committed to providing outstanding service.
  • Working knowledge of CRM and floor plan software is an asset.
  • Service / Operational experience is an asset.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office is an asset.
  • Adaptable to flexible work schedule and must be able to work weekends and evenings as needed.
