Responsibilities

• Depending on the phase of the project where they will be assigned : conceptual / preliminary / detail design / ready for installation & commissioning, they will have to :
• Review & understand the current documents (diagrams / schematics)
• Run the electrical transient analyzer program (ETAP), used for simulation of the electrical network
• Define / size / calculate electrical power : cable sizing, connection wire diagram, technical specification & data sheet (to purchase the equipment)
• As an example the latest project was in Pickering to replace inverters (switch direct current to alternative) & rectifiers (the opposite, switch alternative to direct current)
• Encountered equipment types : inverters, rectifiers, transformers, converters, power system, switchgear – circuit breakers
