JOB OVERVIEW
We are currently seeking a highly skilled, organized, efficient, and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join the DREAM Fertility Team on a Full-Time basis. The Registered Nurse / Registered Practical Nurse provides safe, compassionate, and patient-centred nursing care to individuals and couples undergoing fertility assessment and treatment. Working within an interdisciplinary fertility care team, the Nurse supports clinical procedures, venipuncture and specimen collection, patient education, and care coordination while maintaining the highest standards of professionalism, privacy, and confidentiality in accordance with regulations. Clinical and interpersonal skills will be utilized daily.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide direct nursing care to fertility patients in accordance with physician orders, clinic protocols and individual scope of practice (RN or RPN).
- Perform nursing assessments and ongoing monitoring of patient response to treatment, escalating concerns appropriately to the physician.
- Perform venipuncture and capillary blood sampling for fertility-related testing in accordance with training, competence and clinic protocols.
- Accurately label, handle, process, and prepare blood and biological specimens for laboratory testing, ensuring patient identification and specimen integrity.
- Administer medications, including injectable fertility medications.
- Monitor patients before, during, and after procedures, reporting changes in condition promptly.
- Provide clear, compassionate education to patients regarding treatment plans, medication administration, bloodwork schedules, and follow-up care.
- Offer empathetic, trauma-informed support recognizing the emotional impact of fertility treatment.
- Reinforce informed consent and document patient education and understanding.
- Coordinate care with teams to support efficient clinic flow.
- Prepare patients for procedures, investigations, and follow-up appointments.
- Communicate test results and care instructions as directed.
- Accurately document all nursing assessments, treatments, venipuncture procedures, specimen collection, and patient communication
- Access, use, and disclose personal health information strictly on a need-to-know basis and in compliance with PHIPA.
- Uphold patient confidentiality and adhere to professional ethics and standards of care.
- Adhere to infection control and workplace safety protocols.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives, audits and ongoing education.
- Maintain clinical competence, including venipuncture and fertility-related nursing skills.
- Comply with workplace health and safety policies and emergency procedures.
Qualifications :
Current registration in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO) as a Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN).Completion of a recognized Nursing Program is required.Demonstrated competence in venipuncture and specimen collection.Minimum one (1) year of recent nursing experience; experience in fertility, women’s health, reproductive endocrinology, or ambulatory care is an asset.Excellent knowledge and adherence to PHIPA and all legislation related to patient and medical records privacy and compliance.Proficiency in Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems and other computer systems.Excellent organizational and time-management skills.Must be able to work cooperatively and collaboratively as a member of the team.Excellent communication skills, verbal and written, with a compassionate approach to patient care.Strong attention to detail and data entry accuracy.Demonstrate a pattern of integrity and professionalism.Must be flexible with changing priorities and willing to adjust work schedule to meet the operational needs of office / clinic.Must be dependable, reliable and consistently attend to work.Must be able to consistently work weekends.Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, emotionally sensitive outpatient setting.Must have completed all internal training assigned in Citation (HR Downloads).Additional Information :
Previous experience working in an outpatient fertility clinic environment is considered an asset.All employees are required to work in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act and its regulations.All employees are required to work in compliance with PHIPA legislation; understanding and having a deep respect for patient privacy and data protection.Position start date is expected to be March 2026.Hours will be based on a schedule of 30-40 hours / week and will be expected to work varying shifts based on a 7 day per week schedule (including Saturdays and Sundays).
