As an Environmental Inspector, you will join our Mississauga, Ontario office as part of ourEastern Ecology team.
The successful applicant will be involved in a broad range ofprojects with responsibilities as follows :
Conduct environmental inspections on a variety of construction projects including assessing erosion sediment controlacross Ontario (focused in GTA area).
Support a variety of field-based project tasks including deploying air quality monitors, performing soil sampling swim pond clean outs and beyondto ensure environmental compliance.
Contribute to proposal development and project scoping.
Working on a diverse variety of projects that span several service lines.
Demonstrate problem-solving skills, be a proactive communicator and take initiative.
Collaborate with private and public sector clients, approval agencies, sub-consultants, and subcontractors.
Manage and provide leadership and technical input on environmental assessment, planning, design, and construction projects.
Engaging and liaising with stakeholders, including conservation authorities, municipal, provincial, and federal governments, and the public.
Coordinate with internal project team across disciplines, including engineers, hydrogeologists, and ecologists.
Prepare technical reports, proposals, and cost estimates for multi-disciplinary projects.
Mentor and develop other staff members.
What We Are Looking For
5-7 years of planning experience in a consulting or directly related role.
A bachelor’s degree or diploma in environmental planning, urban planning, geography, environmental science, or a related field.
Candidates with CAN-CISEC certification preferred.
Knowledge and working experience with regulatory requirements such Municipal Class EA process and the Canadian Impact Assessment Act.
Ability to work on various projects in various sectors urban, transportation, infrastructure, oil and gas, wind and hydropower).
Experience engaging with stakeholders including First Nations, municipal governments, conservation authorities and the private sector.
Strong project management skills, including developing and monitoring of budgets, approved project scope and schedule, organizational skills, staff supervision and team communications.
Strong organizational skills with the demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, plan, schedule, and coordinate various activities relating to projects and proposal submissions.
Familiar with Fisheries Act, Endangered Species Act, Navigation Protection Act, Environmental Protection Act, and other relevant legislation.
Experience researching, conceptualizing, planning, and writing drafts of reports related to planning, design and permitting.
Valid G class driver’s license is required.
The following would be considered an asset :
Planning experience with environmental management on large infrastructure projects within Ontario.
Experience working with Metrolinx or MTO projects.
Technical abilities in the areas of ecological study design and coordination of large field programs.
