Key Responsibilities
Lead and direct the Design Team in priority setting, standardization, scheduling
Prioritize work within the group balancing between projects and programs understanding big picture needs and constraints such as plant downtimes, financial return and continuous improvement
Develop and maintain standardized formats and procedures and access of all technical information
Be accountable for the timeline and quality delivered of technical material from direct reports
Providing technical leadership and defining and resolving problems through individual and team-based continuous improvement activities and structured problem solving methods.
Lead change utilizing six-sigma methodology and common logic
Work with cross functional teams, clearly defining problems and development of solutions
Organize and track progress and hold team members accountable for delivery of tasks / goals
Develop team through skill development and tools
Assess and identify strengths and weaknesses in direct reports being able to coach team members in the development of required competencies
Assess tools and program structure to document and share knowledge from SME’s to all staff
Effectively collaborate with peers to lead in the identification and implementation of departmental process / procedural changes
Act as a role model and provide visible support for IKO leadership decisions
Lead cross functional teams to make changes for the better of the business
Make strategic decisions on matters in the implementation of engineering process and / or programs subject to company objective, policy and financial controls
Ensure the vision of the Corporate Engineering department is met via the programs, procedures and communications with other functional areas
Empowered to improve inter-departmental relationships and procedures to benefit knowledge sharing, communication and performance of the business
Requirements
Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field
8-10 years experience in a management or supervisory role
Computer skills AutoCAD, Auto Desk, MS Project, Excel, Word, etc.
Proven track record of implementing process improvements and driving continuous improvement initiatives
Strong understanding of project management principles and methodologies
Experience with six-sigma methodology and structured problem-solving techniques
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
Strong leadership skills with a focus on coaching and developing team members
