Position overview

We have a permanent, full-time opportunity for an Operations Coordinator (IOC) in the Airport Operations Department. Reporting to the Manager, Operations Centre, the successful candidate will facilitate and implement project and process changes within the Airport Operations department.

The role is responsible for ensuring that transitions, whether they involve processes, systems, or organizational structures, are well planned, reviewed against other activities to avoid conflict, smoothly executed, and employees are effectively guided through the change process.

The primary objective is to minimize resistance and maximize the positive impact of changes on individuals and the overall department.

Key responsibilities include :

  • Coordinate and schedule activities related to the change process as well as develop detailed plans outlining the scope, timeline, resources, and key activities required for successful change implementation in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Identify potential risks and obstacles to change implementation and develop strategies to mitigate these risks effectively which includes assessing the readiness of work groups impacted to adopt proposed changes, identifying areas that may require additional support or preparation and reviewing scheduled activities to avoid facility impacts.
  • Facilitate collaboration and communication among different departments or teams involved in the change process to ensure alignment, coherence, and benefits of the change to our employees.
  • Identify and analyze stakeholders to understand their needs, concerns, and level of influence, and develop appropriate engagement strategies.
  • Assess and manage the need for training and development programs related to the changes plus coordinate training sessions or workshops with internal training department to equip employees with the skills and knowledge required for the new processes or systems.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and departments to ensure a cohesive and integrated approach to change management.

Key qualifications include :

Completion of a two to three year technical or community college certificate or diploma, supplemented by 3 years of relevant experience in a related role or a combination / equivalency of experience and education may be considered.

PMP designation or certification in Change Management is an asset.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of change management principles, methodologies, and best practices as well as background in developing and implementing change management plans for various initiatives.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner which is important for drafting communication materials and addressing concerns from stakeholders.
  • Expertise in assessing training needs and coordinating training sessions or workshops to support employees through changes.
  • Experience in coordinating and managing projects, including the ability to work with cross-functional teams and adhere to project timelines.
  • Proficiency with MS Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Office 365 programs.

This position is open to both Vancouver Airport Authority employees and external applicants. Previous job performance will be taken into consideration for all internal candidates that apply for this position.

Salary Range : $72,008 to $94,115 per annum, based on 37.5-hour work week. This is individually tailored to reflect your unique experience, qualifications, and internal equity.
