The Manager is responsible for training and managing the daily activities of the Technical Sales Specialist / Estimating Team on our fully engineered Decoustics line of products as well as wood product lines as needed internally or externally.

The Estimating Manager will provide technical support & design advice to architectural firms, our independent rep network, and internal staff.

Guiding the team through projects and maximizing our project scope and pricing opportunities being the principal objectives.

Working collaboratively across all material groups, this role will be part of a team who focuses on fostering greater customer satisfaction and developing profitable market share by ensuring that our products and services are positioned, priced and sold with a strong customer experience at all levels of the value chain, adding value to our bottom line.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Supervise, support and direct the Technical Sales Specialists / Estimators on the quotation process, product & manufacturing capabilities, pricing techniques and construction process for Specialty Ceilings projects.
  • Coach, train, motivate and performance manage the team members on their product knowledge, attributes, project pricing strategies, and individual career paths.
  • Make tactical decision to increase the win rate and successfully maintain highest margin levels.
  • In conjunction with the team solicits supplier bids and proposals for labor and materials, and evaluates proposals to ensure they meet project specifications, timelines and budget requirements.
  • Ensure quotations are issued in a timely manner and workload is evenly distributed among the team. Quarterback the team during high volume peak periods.
  • Support and drive the development and implementation of digital support tools and continuous improvement projects.
  • Salesforce as part of the support to the IPG strategy and the required timely follow up to quotations issued to gain valuable input and needed follow up to increase overall win rate.

Cross IPG strategy development needs to support cross functional support across the groups, metal, wood, fiberglass divisions.

Coordinate Projects Internally

Collaborate with the Engineering and manufacturing team to ensure that quotations reflect current lead times and capabilities.

Drive team members to own the understanding of production options and limitations. Value engineered options to be tabled strategically as needed as well to drive the success.

Work with Research & Development to obtain required product testing and accreditations to meet project specifications. Critical prequalifying and noting compliance need to ensure process moves long to submit bids that then need qualification confirmation.

Understanding the processes as needed as well.

Expectations :

As the Estimating Manager, the ideal candidate requires a leadership style that encourages results-driven, task-oriented collaboration.

He / She must have high attention to detail, a sense of urgency and the ability to make decisions and adjust quickly to changing conditions through practical and efficient methods.

  • Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) in Architecture, Engineering or Design
  • MS Office Excel, AutoCAD, Bluebeam, SAP, Salesforce
  • 10 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of architectural custom products and manufacturing processes
  • Understand architectural specification process and able to read and interpret architectural drawings, RCP’s and project schedules
  • Understand commercial construction and the bidding process
  • Interpersonal and sales skills are needed in working with architects, independent sales representatives, customers, and internal staff
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency and customer service orientation. Must be able to meet tight deadlines when turning around quotes.
  • Requires a high level of problem solving, decision making, and time management
  • Great leadership and strategic decision-making experience.
  • Ability to coach, empower.
  • Ability to assume responsibility, interface and communicate effectively with others and demonstrate strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively and collaborate with all departments / staffing levels
