Corporate Accountant

We are looking for an intermediate Corporate Accountant for our Head Office which is located in Calgary. In this role, you will be an integral member of our Accounting Team, providing finance and accounting expertise.

A Day in the Life :

• Assist the Manager of Corporate Accounting and Senior Accountant to produce accurate and timely month end and year end consolidated and legal entity financial statements in accordance with Accounting Standard for Private Entities (ASPE)
• Support with accounting policy documentation
• Assist in carrying out corporate accounting duties, that are primarily focused on the balance sheet accounts of the company
• Assist with supporting accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, and revenue departments with questions on technical issues, and problem resolution
• Assist with year-end audit including preparing working papers and information gathering
• Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and continuity schedules
• Ensure regular follow up is done with other teams that drive movement / explanations on the balance sheet unbilled revenue / fixed fees / accrued contractors etc.
• Ensure accurate recognition of revenue and expenses in accordance with the latest accounting standards
• Perform daily bank reconciliation tasks
• Conduct costs analysis
• Responsible for creating and performing financial analysis using data visualization tools such as Microsoft Power BI
• Assist with championing a data-based decision-making culture across the organization using analysis, trending and financial reporting strategies
• Assist with the automation of routine tasks by displaying aptitude to explore new technologies and potential of Artificial Intelligence combined with willingness to self-teach process automation tools

What You Bring :

• Previous experience in similar accounting or finance roles
• CPA designation holder or, currently working towards accounting designation(CPA)
• Strong analytical skills
• Clear and professional communication skills in both verbal and written communication
• Well developed interpersonal skills, collaborative and team focused
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills (V-Lookups, X-lookups, Conditional Formatting, PivotTables, etc.)
• Experience working with integrated ERP Systems
