Overview :
Pembina Pipelines is looking for a Risk Engineer, who will be responsible for development and execution of the Pipeline Risk Assessment.
This position reports to the Manager, Integrity & Risk Assurance in the Technical Services Unit (TSU), part of Pembina’s Corporate Services Division.
On behalf of Pembina’s Business Units (BUs), the Technical Services Unit manages a comprehensive integrity management program, which includes asset management, product quality & measurement, geographical information system), integrity project execution, and automation services.
TSU provides leading technical expertise that optimizes performance and minimizes operational and project risk. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the highest standards of quality, safety, and compliance across our pipeline, integrity and facility projects.
Your expertise and leadership will contribute to the successful delivery of projects that have a lasting impact on the energy industry and the communities we serve.
Responsibilities may include but not limited to :
- Support Pembina’s safety culture of "Zero by Choice" and the Life Saving Rules . To read more about our Life Saving Rules, visit pembina.com / safety;
- Gathering required asset and operational data and assisting with completing the annual pipeline risk assessments;
- QA / QC of risk data inputs;
- Completion of annual pipeline risk assessments and reports;
- Review risk results with Pipeline Integrity staff;
- Assist with conducting annual risk reviews with district operations;
- Work with Integrity staff to develop risk mitigation plans, develop what if scenarios within risk software to determine effect of mitigation option(s);
- Support the development and improvement of advanced risk assessment models to quantify pipeline threats;
- Completion, tracking and reporting of risk registers, provide pipeline risk results into corporate risk register;
- Complete / assist with threat and risk assessments for pipeline projects in the design phase;
- Assist with Engineering Assessments or other one off risk projects where required;
- Assist with data gathering and responses for regulatory and internal audits;
- Complete or assist in one off Integrity assessments including : outflow, spill modelling, valve spacing, class location, HCA assessments, etc.;
- Working with a variety of software packages to effectively manage and summarize large amounts of data, including risk software, Excel, Python, Power BI, Power Apps, and other third-party assessment tools; and
- Participate and support an equitable, diverse, and inclusive workplace.
Qualifications :
- Junior / Intermediate Engineer or Technologist, Post-Secondary degree / certificate and / or equivalent;
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the pipeline industry;
- Knowledge of Canadian and US provincial / state and federal regulations related to integrity;
- Experience in pipeline risk assessments;
- Self-motivated, independent, team player with a strong work ethic and initiative;
- Proven ability to initiate and manage change, be innovative, problem solve, think strategically, and prioritize key tasks;
- Superior communication skills with proven abilities engaging stakeholders to achieve results;
- Proficient in MS Office applications and GIS viewer; and
- Some project management skills.
The successful candidate must live within 100 km of Calgary, AB.
Pembina’s Flexible Work Standard provides the option for eligible employees to work remotely on Mondays and Fridays.
