Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description Overview

This position requires experienced individuals who are self-starters capable of working independently and leading / supervising junior engineers. The individuals will work in a fast-paced team environment performing engineering services for Nuclear Power Plants within a matrix organization.

Location – Mississauga, ON.

Your role

• Perform conceptual and detail design activities for mechanical systems which include preparation of flow sheets, detail drawings, equipment arrangement / layouts as well as sizing and selection of mechanical equipment, technical specifications, and registration design submissions related to power plants (both conventional and / or nuclear), mining, oil & gas industry, etc.
• Work in accordance with applicable codes, standards, regulations, and client / company procedures.
• Review design calculation, analysis reports, documents, and drawings in support of design verification.
• Define mechanical work scope, performing cost estimates, support proposal preparation, monitoring and reporting project progress and communicating with clients.
• Interface with other engineering disciplines to obtain data and resolve issues relevant to design. Conduct technical, conceptual and detailed design meetings with peers, clients, and suppliers. Conduct site visits at site and suppliers.
• Perform pre-order and post-order engineering support for procurement of engineered equipment and packages including vendor documents review, preparing and reviewing engineering quotation requests, technical evaluations and resolving design deviations.
• Provide engineering support to quality surveillance, manufacturing, assembly and testing with non-conformances. Review and approve supplier’s capability to fabricate the required component within the applicable requirements. Evaluate the completeness and status of delivered equipment.
