Your contribution!

The Major contracts and Commercial Manager will be responsible to provide cost inputs and guidance for projects under development and to implement the construction contracts and procurement strategies for projects at the development stage. The manager will be negotiating contracts and leading major procurement contracts until execution. The manager will also ensure the successful implementation of the procurement contracts during construction by supporting Construction Project Managers teams and lead the projects’ close out activities.

Your day-to-day!

  • Develop major operations contracting and procurement plan and schedule including establishing milestones, engineering design timing requirements, tracking progress, and working with suppliers and contractors to minimize costs & risk and maximize supply reliability & quality.
  • Lead operation and procurement competitive RFP process, develop performance and evaluation criteria, negotiate and award contracts, and evaluate suppliers’ and contractors’ performance.
  • Lead the preparation of major contract documents (major equipment supply, operations) including specifications, general and special conditions and exhibits with support from legal, engineering, construction and operations teams.
  • Maintain relationships with suppliers and contractors to ensure an efficient response to support the development team on pricing input as required in various markets.
  • Maintain a database of market pricing and trends.
  • Provide input and review to the Strategic Planning team for the market pricing database.
  • Oversee contract development and ensure that all agreements are signed in a timely manner.
  • Continuously investigate the US and Canadian markets and provide recommendations on Procurement timing and new suppliers and contractors candidates.
  • Provide construction (CAPEX) & operations (OPEX) inputs and optimization solution to planning team.
  • Support project acquisition processes on procurement strategy, scope and costs.
  • Ensure effective coordination and information sharing within the multi-disciplinary project team.
  • Support procurement and contracting process improvements.
  • Support, guide and assist the construction team during project execution.
  • Manage and coordinate dispute and litigation related activities during project execution or post-construction.
  • Provide guidance to development team and strategic planning team on suitable construction strategies.

Your skills, our requirements!

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or business administration.
  • A specialization in wind and solar energy is an asset.
  • Experience in sourcing and negotiating wind and solar project contracts in the United States and / or Canada.
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite (especially Excel, Word and PowerPoint);
  • Bilingualism (French and English, written and spoken) is required to ensure collaboration with different stakeholders outside of Québec on a regular basis.

  • The position is based in the company's Longueuil (Quebec) headquarters, steps away from the Longueuil-Université de Sherbrooke metro station.
