The Opportunity
Reporting to the Maintenance Manager, this position provides direction for the Stock Prep Department to ensure the safe and optimal performance of all equipment and that quality output meets or exceeds both short- and long-term objectives.
What you'll do
Maintenance Planning and Scheduling
- Develop detailed maintenance job plans for mill equipment, including mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, and automation tasks
- Define scope of work, labor requirements, tools, materials, permits, and estimated durations for planned jobs
- Build and maintain weekly and shutdown maintenance schedules in coordination with Operations and Maintenance Supervisors
- Prioritize work orders based on safety, production impact, asset criticality, and regulatory requirements
- May be required to support maintenance planning during outages, shutdowns, or extended maintenance windows
Work Order Management
Review and validate work requests to ensure completeness and accuracy before planningEnsure work orders include clear task descriptions, safety precautions, lockout / tagout requirements, and quality standardsClose completed work orders with accurate labor, material, and failure data to support reliability analysisCoordination, communication and act as the primary liaison between Maintenance, Operations, Engineering, and Stores for equipment maintenance activitiesCoordinate planned outages, shutdowns, and maintenance windows to align with production requirementsCommunicate schedule changes, job readiness, and execution risks to stakeholdersMaterials and Resource Planning
Identify and pre-stage required spare parts, consumables, and special tools prior to job executionWork with the Storeroom and Procurement teams to ensure critical spares availabilitySupport optimization of spare parts inventory for critical equipment and systemsReliability and Continuous Improvement
Support reliability-centered maintenance (RCM), preventive maintenance (PM), and predictive maintenance (PdM) programsAnalyze maintenance history and downtime data to identify recurring issues and improvement opportunitiesParticipate in root cause failure analyses (RCFA) related to equipment failuresStandardize job plans and maintenance procedures to improve efficiency, safety, and reliabilitySafety and Compliance
Ensure all planned work complies with mill safety standards, lockout / tagout procedures, confined space requirements, and environmental regulationsIncorporate safety, quality, and regulatory requirements into all job plansSupport audits, inspections, and compliance activities as requiredExperience
Technical diploma or degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Maintenance, or a related discipline preferredEquivalent combination of education and relevant maintenance planning experience may be considered3–7 years of maintenance experience in a pulp and paper mill or other heavy industrial manufacturing environmentExperience planning maintenance for rotating equipment, process systems, and plant utilities preferredPrevious experience as a Maintenance Planner, Maintenance Supervisor, or Reliability role is an assetStrong understanding of mechanical and electrical maintenance practices for industrial equipmentProficiency with CMMS / EAM systems (e.g., SAP, Maximo, JD Edwards, Infor)Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, electrical schematics, and OEM manualsWorking knowledge of preventive and predictive maintenance strategiesExcellent organizational and time-management skillsStrong analytical and problem-solving abilitiesEffective written and verbal communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a unionized and / or multi-disciplinary environmentDetail-oriented with a strong focus on safety, quality, and asset reliabilityWhat We Offer

Hiring Range : $73,000 - $91,000 per year. A candidate’s experience and knowledge may be factored into the pay a candidate receives for this position. This posting is for an existing vacancy.
