Position SummaryAs a member of the Research & Development team the Scientist, Product Innovation will collaborate cross-functionally to support NPD, Brand Teams and overall product innovation, from ideation & conception to finished product launch.

Responsibilities· Collaborate, and communicate effectively with cross-functional teams to support new product ideation & product development, keeping up to date with current trends in the market, and providing scientific guidance on product concepts & innovative solutions / ideas· Conduct both scientific & consumer market research and apply findings to development of new product concepts / formulations· Generate product formulations, nutritional and / or supplement facts panels, and ingredients declarations· Collaborate effectively with Regulatory Affairs & Quality teams to ensure the compliance of all new product formulations with in-region regulations.

Provide the team with support on product registrations, label development and any other activities in the product development process· Ensure that priorities and deliverables are in alignment with company’s objectives.

Take a strategic approach to formulation in effort to support cost saving initiatives and manufacturing efficiencyQualifications

  • 2-4 years of relevant industry experience, background in nutraceutical / supplement industry is an asset
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Nutritional / Nutraceutical Science or Food Science or equivalent combination of experience and education required
  • Excellent project management skills, and ability to manage a large volume of projects through the product development lifecycle
  • Self-motivated, highly organized, with incredible attention to detail and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to work effectively with cross functional teams
  • Knowledge of ingredients, nutrition, calculation of nutritional data, CFIA and FDA regulations in the Dietary Supplements category considered an asset
  • Good practical knowledge of GMP, HACCP and Food Safety
  • Practical experience of Genesis (Nutrition Software) would be considered an asset
  • Practical experience of SAP or other ERP systems would be considered an asset
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information as well as high level of accuracy with information
  • Must be able to travel monthly to production facility located in Lancaster, NY (access to car and valid passport are essential)
