Surrey Schools is seeking to fill a vacancy in our Facilities Maintenance team!

Reports to : Manager of Structural / Plumbing Maintenance,

This position will be responsible to manage all aspects of planning for minor renovation and maintenance construction projects.

Key responsibilities include :

Preparing and analyzing construction drawings, estimates, budgets and construction schedules for minor renovation and maintenance projects.

Coordinating and scheduling internal and external resources to meet multiple deadlines and time-oriented emergencies

Preparing and managing all project administration requirements including, contracts, work orders, and purchase orders. Includes reviewing and approving quotations and invoicing

Tracking, monitoring and reporting all project cost to ensure projects are on budget

Providing ongoing communication between internal and external stakeholders

providing technical support to ensure projects adhere to applicable codes, by-laws & regulations.

Success in this position requires excellent organizational skills, exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, thorough knowledge of standard construction materials and practices, as well as knowledge of computer applications and software applications related to the role

Applicants must have :

Possession of an accredited degree, diploma, or certificate of technology from a recognized technical institute or university.

The candidate must be eligible for registration as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T) or Architectural Technologist (AT-BC) in British Columbia.

Minimum three years related work experience in construction, maintenance field including supervisory experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience.

Sound knowledge of BC Building Code and other applicable entities.

Sound knowledge of construction assemblies, processes, and techniques.

High proficiency in AutoCAD. Revit an asset.

A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s license.

Previous Project Management experience an asset.

The Surrey School District prides itself on providing our facilities staff with excellent work-life balance. These Technologist positions work 37.

5 hours per week on typical day shift of 7am-3pm, Monday to Friday.

This is a unionized position that offers an hourly wage rate of $39.65 per hour plus benefits package : municipal pension, health, vacation & sick benefits.

Effective date per collective agreement.
