THE ROLE
Key Accountabilities
- Administering and managing assessments of residents in our facilities.
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Care protocols, expert knowledge of MDs activities.
- How best to efficiently review and analyze the extensive data for compliance with guidelines.
- How the MDS Assessment process integrates with existing clinical tools and provides leadership in the streamlining of processes if appropriate.
- Understand and provides critical analysis of data at various levels of aggregation.
- Facilities response and correction of submission errors.
- Documents assessments and records of observation, care provision and resident responses.
- Ensuring accurate data collection, reporting and submission to required provincial and / or national organizations.
- Ensuring legal compliance for Accreditations and audit.
- Contributes to quality of care and safety assurance and improvements.
- Reports findings and makes recommendations to management.
- Articulates and communicates the strengths of MDS as a clinical assessment tool including how it triggers and enhances quality care through improvements to Care Plans.
- Assists with orientation of staff and peers and provides incidental or ad hoc input into staff performance.

THE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL SUCCEED
- Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse.
- Annual successful qualification as MDS Assessor- Advanced level.
- Current CPR (BCLS) Certificate.
- A minimum of five (5) years clinical MDS User experience
- Ability to utilizing and applying practical and Clinical knowledge to MDS procedures.
- Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy, quality of submission and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Independently manages work to meet all deadlines for submission, including management / scheduling of MDS Day.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with residents, Care team members including those responsible for MDS submissions in other Wing Kei sites and multidisciplinary team members.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, with the ability to accurately assess and interpret resident data for MDS completion.
- Good judgment when analyzing data, in order to escalate issues proactively to DOC.
- Experienced with Care Planning and coordinating process improvement.
- Computer Literacy : Demonstrates applicable computer skills, experienced in all functions of RAI-MDS 2.0
