Accounting Manager

An Accounting Manager is sought by a successful, Kitsilano based property management and development company that has been operating for over 40 years.

This is a role suited to an experienced accountant looking for variation and ownership in their work, coupled with a long-term job stability and a great work-life balance.

You will be reporting into a knowledgeable, approachable, friendly, and well tenured CFO as part of a tight-knit finance function of 3.

This is a full-time position at the company’s office in Kitsilano.

Who - the Company :

The company manages a portfolio of residential, commercial, and industrial properties across the Lower Mainland, and has some development projects on the horizon.

What - the Role :

You will be responsible for the day-to-day handling of the accounting function.

Responsibilities include :

• Full cycle accounting procedures for 15 properties.
• Oversee ongoing improvements in accounting controls, implementation of effective accounting systems and appropriate documentation approval process
• Effective preparation, maintenance, and reporting of internal financial records (monthly P&L for revenue generating locations)
• Oversee ongoing improvements and maintenance of the financial accounting software (Yardi)
• Liaise with property manager / job managers on matters such as monthly / annual reporting; review and analyze cost to date, payment information and coding issues
• Preparation of monthly cost to date reports and account analysis for properties under development
• Supervision of A / P staff member and prepare account and vendor analysis and rush cheque payments
• Preparation of GST filing
• Preparation of cash balance statement and cash management (weekly)
• Preparation of year end reports (TB reconciliations)
• AR processing and reporting, processing monthly EFT payments from tenants
• Assist in the collection of commercial & residential tenant’s outstanding accounts receivable
• On-line banking duties that include : payments, transfers, wires.
• New project set-up : bank account and property set-up in Yardi
• Petty cash

Who - the Candidate :

• Minimum 5 years of accounting experience required, including full cycle accounting
• Real estate or property management industry exposure
• Strong knowledge of Yardi
• CAM reconciliations experience would be an asset.
• Solid written and verbal communication skills.
• A full accounting designation is nor required

Where :

Full-time, in office role at their Kitsilano office. The office hours are 8 : 00 AM to 4 : 30 PM, and there is free on-site parking

How Much : Base salary of between $85,000 and $100,000, discretionary bonus, health, dental, and vision benefits, and 3 weeks vacation.
