The North American head office is located in Vancouver and the global headquarters is based overseas.
What - the Role :
On behalf of our client, SWIM is searching for a self-motivated, intelligent, adaptable, and dynamic Finance Manager who will take on a wide array of accounting and finance responsibilities and projects.
The Finance Manager will report directly to a fantastic Senior Finance Manager who is based at the global corporate headquarters.
The new Finance Manager will spearhead month-end closing procedures in Canada and the US, generate budget-to-actual reports, participate in audits and tax work, prepare financial reporting (IFRS), ensure SOX compliance and drive the implementation of process improvements and system enhancements.
As this hire represents the first employee on the North American accounting and finance team, the Finance Manager will initially be quite hands-on, including taking on accounts receivable, accounts payable, and payroll processing oversight.
These responsibilities will be integral to the day-to-day responsibilities of the Finance Manager until the team expands and eventually incorporates additional members.

Who - the Candidate :
We are seeking candidates with at least 7 years of relevant and progressive work experience . A Canadian CPA or equivalent International accounting designation is mandatory.
Qualified candidates will possess substantial experience in a comparable setting, preferably within a fast-paced publicly-listed company with global operations.
Experience with a company undergoing transformation and growth is highly sought after- perhaps having worked for a company expanding through M&A, an ambitious start-up, and / or a company establishing operations in new countries.
Experience working in technology, energy, or mining sectors is preferred but not required. Demonstrated expertise leading small teams through periods of growth and transformation, as well as cultivating high-functioning finance teams, is important.
- Sound knowledge of IFRS financial reporting
- Understanding of public company requirements, SOX compliance, and internal controls
- Experience with a company with growing operations within both Canada and US is highly preferred.
- Experience reporting into a global parent company is an asset, not required. Must be very independent and self-motivated, with ability to self-manage for the majority of the workday.
- High attention to detail and the ability to work effectively under tight deadlines.
- Excellent mentorship and team management skills.
- Experience implementing and managing efficient accounts receivable and accounts payable processes.
- Experience with cloud-based financial systems, particularly in consolidating information from various systems, is beneficial- as is experience with an ERP implementation.
Where :
Based out of a corporate office in downtown Vancouver, conveniently accessible by public transit and close to many amenities and shops.
Hybrid work model available- at least 3 days a week in the office (likely 4 days during initial training and onboarding) and 1-2 days a week from home.
The Finance Manager must have some flexibility on their work hours to hit deadlines and also to communicate & collaborate with colleagues working in various time zones.
How Much :
This company offers a highly competitive total compensation package ! Base salary commensurate with level of skills, experience, and education, likely in the range of $130,000-$160,000 (please note that the top end is reserved for candidates who have not only the requirements, but also many of the nice-to-have qualifications.
The overall compensation package includes an annual performance-based bonus, an attractive long-term incentive plan (LTIP) with a reasonable vesting timeline, CPA and professional development support, health benefits and likely an RRSP match in future.
