Practice Lead, Fire Investigations (Western Canada)

Purpose :

The Practice Lead, Fire Investigations (Western Canada) will report directly to the CEO and Technical Director Practice Lead of the Fire and Electrical Group.

This position will assist with team leadership . In addition, the PL will be collaborating with other subject matter experts to consult with clients;

perform examinations, testing, and analysis; and prepare engineering reports and findings in a clear, concise, efficient and professional manner.

Role responsibilities will include (but are not limited to) :

  • Contribute to the organizations strategic plan by developing business for your team, providing mentorship to more members and growing market share through client activities and service to your community.
  • Manage client service deadlines, budgeting, invoicing and accounts receivable for your team according to organizational best practices.
  • Manage projects in an efficient manner and adhere to any billing and reporting requirements and / or client-based master service agreements (MSAs) to meet established organizational profit margin targets.
  • Perform site examinations and document review and effectively communicate investigation and analysis findings to colleagues and others.
  • Work within a collaborative environment, both within the team and across disciplines
  • Develop members of your team and provide them opportunities for both technical and business growth.
  • Prepare technical reports based on sound investigations and analysis.
  • Ensure technical reports meet a high standard of quality and are peer reviewed.
  • Must be prepared to provide expert testimony in court.
  • Additional duties and professional development activities as required.

Requirements :

  • A minimum of years’ experience (post-degree) working at a senior project management level, and previous experience with fire investigations
  • Currently registered with Engineers and Geoscientists BC and APEGA
  • Currently a Fire and Explosion Investigator (CFEI)
  • Preferred but not required additional certifications for this role include CVFI. CFI, WETT, G LP, GPI
  • Knowledge of regulatory codes and standards such as NFPA , NFPA and other codes
  • Exposure to engineering in a consulting environment preferred with a sound base in the application of engineering to solve complex problems.
  • Valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
  • Excellent technical writing skills are a must.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with clients.
