Reports to : Manager,Mental Health, and Substance Use ProgramsWage - $22.25 - $ 29.96

Job Summary

TheClinical Support Worker (CSW) reports to the Program Manager and is a member ofan integrated services team, combining clinical substance use, supportivehousing, employment, educational and other services.

The CSW works withresidents to provide assistance, support education and skill training and hasthe overall purpose of facilitating the stabilization, recovery and capacitybuilding of residents.

Responsibilities : Client Services

Client Services

  • Will participate in client intake and provide support services andassessment
  • Support clients with their recovery care plans by maintaining accuratelogging and documentation as required by the Society and other stakeholders
  • Build a therapeutic relationship to support the client in their goals
  • Support medication administration schedule and ensure accuratedocumentation for records
  • Support proper reporting / documentation and collaboration for : suspectedalcohol or drug use; clients who late for curfew and / or do not return home;

escalating, unsafe behaviour; emergency medical situations; client requests togo to the hospital; and power failures, fire, or other emergency conditionswhich require staff supervision or consultation

  • Monitor and assess resident behaviours andclient movement in and out of the building
  • Lead or oversee client meetings as required forthe program
  • Report behaviours to management that poses arisk to the resident, other residents, staff and / or the community
  • Act as apositive role model for all residents. Promote effective social andinterpersonal skills through tasks of healthy daily living and socialactivities
  • Contributeto maintaining a therapeutic environment to encourage awareness ofinter-dependence of community members, and the value of responsible concern forself and others

Administration

  • Support administrative tasks including : photocopying; case documentation; database entry; filing; and answering phones.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization
  • Debriefwith incoming shifts to ensure detailed transfer of information (e.g.concerns)
  • Support a safe, well maintained and healthybuilding environment
  • Complete regular rounds of facility asscheduled throughout shifts
  • Perform other duties as required

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary diploma in counselling, socialwork, community services, or equivalent
  • 2+ years of experience working with marginalizedpopulations in the delivery of substance use services, mental health orequivalent
  • Ability to lift up to 25 pounds is required. Satisfactory completionof a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is required
  • Satisfactorycompletion of Tuberculosis Screening form is required
  • Satisfactory completionof Employee Immunization Record form is required
  • First Aid 1 and Current CPR certificate isrequired
  • Valid Class 5 driver’s license is required

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Experience using database management systems (e.g., electronic health records, enterprise resource planning, orcustomer relationship management)
  • Knowledge of and ability to operate standard officeequipment, including : telephone system, fax machine, photocopier, printer, etc.
  • High level of integrity and dependability witha strong sense of urgency and results-orientation
  • Strong problem solving skills with the abilityto exercise sound judgement and make decisions based on accurate and timelyanalysis
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability tocommunicate effectively in writing and verbally in English
  • Ability to engage, facilitate, support, empowerand increase motivation for change; actively involving the residents in thechange process and encouraging the resident to take responsibility for theoutcomes they achieve
  • Ability to form effective collaborativerelationships with clients for the purpose of facilitating their success in aperformance-based program
  • Ability to perceive situational or otherstressors, subtle changes in motivation that elevate risk, and act proactivelyto check in and bring the client back on track toward their goals usingappropriate strategies, and prioritizing issues
  • Ability to work in a trauma-informed framework. Demonstrated commitment to the social sector with apassion for the organization’s mission is essential
