Job Summary
TheClinical Support Worker (CSW) reports to the Program Manager and is a member ofan integrated services team, combining clinical substance use, supportivehousing, employment, educational and other services. The CSW works withresidents to provide assistance, support education and skill training and hasthe overall purpose of facilitating the stabilization, recovery and capacitybuilding of residents.
Responsibilities : Client Services
- Will participate in client intake and provide support services andassessment
- Support clients with their recovery care plans by maintaining accuratelogging and documentation as required by the Society and other stakeholders
- Build a therapeutic relationship to support the client in their goals
- Support medication administration schedule and ensure accuratedocumentation for records
- Support proper reporting / documentation and collaboration for : suspectedalcohol or drug use; clients who late for curfew and / or do not return home;escalating, unsafe behaviour; emergency medical situations; client requests togo to the hospital; and power failures, fire, or other emergency conditionswhich require staff supervision or consultation
- Monitor and assess resident behaviours andclient movement in and out of the building
- Lead or oversee client meetings as required forthe program
- Report behaviours to management that poses arisk to the resident, other residents, staff and / or the community
- Act as apositive role model for all residents. Promote effective social andinterpersonal skills through tasks of healthy daily living and socialactivities
- Contributeto maintaining a therapeutic environment to encourage awareness ofinter-dependence of community members, and the value of responsible concern forself and others
Administration
Support administrative tasks including : photocopying; case documentation; database entry; filing; and answering phones.Maintain cleanliness and organizationDebriefwith incoming shifts to ensure detailed transfer of information (e.g.concerns)Support a safe, well maintained and healthybuilding environmentComplete regular rounds of facility asscheduled throughout shiftsPerform other duties as requiredQualifications
Post-secondary diploma in counselling, socialwork, community services, or equivalent2+ years of experience working with marginalizedpopulations in the delivery of substance use services, mental health orequivalentAbility to lift up to 25 pounds is required. Satisfactory completionof a criminal records check with vulnerable sector screening is requiredSatisfactorycompletion of Tuberculosis Screening form is requiredSatisfactory completionof Employee Immunization Record form is requiredFirst Aid 1 and Current CPR certificate isrequiredValid Class 5 driver’s license is requiredSkills & Knowledge
